Cora D Manuel Neal -MACON - Services for Cora D Manuel Neal will be 2 P.M., Thursday at Greater Lizzieboro Baptist Church with burial at Ft. Hill Cemetery. Remains will be placed in church at 12:30 P.M., Deaconess Cora D Manuel Neal, 89, was born January 10, 1920 in Bradley, Jones County, Georgia to the parentage of the late Bennie Manuel and Cora V. Manuel Woolfolk. Cora lived all of her life in Macon. In 1932, Cora D joined Greater Lizzieboro Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. E. O. Bivins. She served on the Usher Board, E.W. Hoyt Club and Pastor Aide Club. She served on the Deaconess Board under Rev. M.D. Dumas and Rev. D.M. Dumas. She was one of the oldest members. She was also a member of the Daughters of Israelites Society until it disbanded. -Cora attended East Macon Elementary School (later M.M. Burdell, now Burdell-Hunt). where Mrs. Maryland Marlow Burdell was Principal. -In 1939 she graduated from Hudson High School. Cora worked in Food Services beginning at Robins Field, Wellston, now Robins Air Force Base, the Fuse Plant and Bateman Foods. She served as assistant to the Lunchroom Managers of Lanier High School for boys and Central High School for thirty-two years. In June of 1981, she retired from the Bibb County Board of Education. Cora was married to the late, Alton Neal. She went to her heavenly home, Sunday, February 8, 2009. -Cora is survived by a daughter, Doris Wims Nelson, and son-in-law, Grover L. Nelson of Powersville/Byron, Georgia; grandsons, Cedric Dewayne Nelson and Quentin Van Nelson of Centerville, Georgia; step-grandson, Randall (Laurene) O'Neal of Widefield, Colorado; nephews, raised as grandsons, Noble Nelson of Ft. Valley and Darrell Nelson of Powersville/Byron; niece, Patsy G. Anthony and devoted cousin, Alice M.
