Montgomery, AL - In Loving Memory of Cordelia Cooper Humphrey 1940-2025

Cordelia Cooper Humphrey, 84, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025. She was born in Dothan, Alabama on September 9, 1940, to Charles Madison Cooper and Frances (Espy) Cooper. Cordelia is survived by her loving husband, Richard Henry Humphrey, II; her brother, Charles M. Cooper of Boca Raton, FL; and her 3 children, Renee Beasley (Sam) of Athens, Georgia; Richard H. Humphrey, Ill (Karie) of Nashville, TN; and Charles Cooper Humphrey (Heather) of Montgomery. She was blessed with 7 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.

Cordelia graduated in 1958 from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery and kept many close friendships with classmates throughout her life. Upon graduation, she attended Agnes Scott College. After raising her children, she went back to college at Auburn University at Montgomery where she earned her BA in History and her Master's in History. She went on to enjoy teaching History at the college level at AUM and giving historical tours to children at Old Alabama Town.

Interment will be a private service in Panama City, FL on what would have been her 66th wedding anniversary, as the family lays her ashes to rest near St. Andrews Bay. A reception to honor and celebrate her long life with family and friends will be held at Christchurch, Canterbury Hall, 8800 Vaughn Road, Montgomery, AL 36117, on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.

She will always be remembered for her unwavering love for family. May her fond memory remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Christchurch Anglican Church, Montgomery Humane Society or Old Alabama Town c/o Landmarks Foundation.
