Craig Chambers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 11, 2023.

Craig Chambers,66, passed away under the compassionate care of hospice on March 6, 2023. Craig Henry Chambers was born April 18, 1956, in Sioux Falls to Alice and Lawrence Chambers. He grew up in Sioux Falls with his siblings, Carla, Camille, Cory, and Chris.

At a young age he enjoyed the outdoors. Riding mini -bikes, go-carts, and snowmobiles. It was at this age that he began to develop his love and skill for working on vehicles and his desire to own and operate an automotive shop. By the time he was 18 he had purchased and sold dozens of vehicles, including the famous Barracuda. After graduating from Washington High School, he enrolled at Dunwoody Industrial Institute, where he completed his automotive training. Before starting his own business, The Garage Inc., he worked for dealerships during which time he gained his Subaru certifications. These made him the only certified Subaru tech in S.D. for many years.

In 1974, Craig met Lynn Marie Warner.  Craig proposed three times to the love of his life, Lynn, and each time Lynn told Craig no, which created alot of frustration.  However, after much encouragement from Lynn's mother she asked Craig to marry her.  On May 30, 1981, the happy couple were married and they were blessed with two of the most handsome, wonderful, muscular,  compassionate, loving, specimens of manliness parents could ask for. Yes, Heath and Wade "No brag, just fact." Craig and Lynn enjoyed touring on their motorcycle and snowmobile trips to the Hills.

In 1978, Craig's life changed forever. He accepted Christ's free gift of salvation and never looked back. He began serving at Eastside Baptist. He was involved in the bus ministry as the bus director, a trustee, choir member, teaching 5th&6th grade boys Sunday school, deacon, helping with the youth, mowing the church, and plowing the snow. He loved serving and using whatever God gave him to be a blessing to others. Whether it was guiding friends on snowmobile trips, letting someone use his cabin, or late nights at The Garage getting someone’s vehicle working, he was always ready to serve.

Craig loved spending time with his family and friends doing all the things he loved with the Lord at the center.

Thankful to have shared so many great memories are his sons Heath (Diana- from the lands of the Philistines), Wade and 2 grandsons Chase and Wyatt.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Alice and his loving wife Lynn Marie.

Funeral services for Craig will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Eastside Baptist Church, 6101 E 49th St, Sioux Falls, SD 57110.  Family will be present one hour prior to his funeral for visitation.  Craig's family hopes you can join them after his funeral for lunch and continued fellowship.

Craig and sons were always our go-to guys for performing repairs on our family vehicles. Great guy and always felt welcome in his shop. Unfortunately, I found out today of his young passing from his sons.

So sorry to hear of Craig’s passing. It’s also sad that we didn’t hear about this until afterwards. Our family used to be close. So sorry for his passing, my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends! Blessings!

Craig was one of the nicest men I’ve ever known. His love for the Lord was so evident by his love for others, his helping spirit and his faithfulness to His Saviour. He and Lynn became some of the best friends we ever had. He will be sorely missed and left footprints on our heart.

Bro. Craig was a dear friend to our family. Generous, helpful, and little sparks of wisdom along the way. I don't know that Knutson Family Ministries would have been able to stay on the road if not for Bro. Craig. He was my father's friend and he was my friend. Even giving me a summer job so our family could stay at home from evangelism and be with our home church for the summer. I'm already missing him. To Heath and Wade and your families: thanks for lending us your Dad. Praying for you all. Grief is ok, and tears at weird moments is normal. Not sure I can be there, preaching a funeral myself today, and of course tomorrow is Sunday and I'm a pastor now. Our hearts and tears are with you. The Lord finished His work and called and said, "Hey Craig, You're place is ready, I'm coming by to pick you up."

I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing. I have great memories of him when i was a little girl. At church and at bowling league with my parents, always calling "Jammers" and razzing me.
He was a good friend to my father and always such a kind man. Blessed are the reunited.

I meet Craig when I was 5 or 6 years old. He would pick us up for church in a big blue bus. We would always sit in the back of the bus and tell him to go faster over the bumps and he would. Craig was a kind, caring soft spoken person. I was sad to hear about his passing. I will never forget him. He will be greatly missed. Now he can walk beside god with no pain, God is good.
