Cristina Weigmann Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from Aug. 6 to Aug. 7, 2009.

WEIGMANN Cristina Isabel It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Cristina Isabel Weigmann after a valiant battle with breast cancer on July 28, 2009. Born January 27, 1971 in Beirut, Lebanon to Lolita Alsina and Christian Weigmann, Cristina lived the majority of her years in Vancouver, working in the film industry as a script supervisor and where she met the love of her life, Bruce Franklin, with whom she settled in Santa Monica, California. A beautiful woman who had no idea how beautiful she was, who loved to travel and be in nature, who found value in people for who they were, not what they were. Cristina touched everyone with her passion for life, her infectious smile and her message to all of us: "Remember to love, laugh and to live life to the fullest". Cristina is survived by her husband Bruce Franklin; her mother Lolita Alsina; siblings Fred Weigmann, Lidia Raposo, Sandra Weigmann and Eric Pilon; her nephew Eric Raposo; and her nieces Marissa Raposo, Diana Raposo and Isabel Weigmann; and stepchildren Leilah and Eric Franklin. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 8th at 9:30 am at Our Lady of Sorrows, 555 Slocan St., Vancouver, to be followed by the burial at 11:30 am at Capilano View Cemetery, West Vancouver. In lieu of flowers donation to Cristina Weigmann Memorial at BC Cancer Foundation - Breast Cancer Research is greatly appreciated. donate.bccancerfoundation.com/goto/cristinaw

Thank you for sharing your very intimate and vulnerable story, Cristina. I lost my mother to liver cancer this past February and have been spending a lot of time trying to understand while grieving. Your documentary was very touching and will forever be remembered as a piece of my healing process. Fly high beautiful angel.

I just discovered Cristina's mini documentary. It was beautifully done, I lost my mother in 1995 to breast cancer, and watching this brought everything back. I know how brave she was to fight up until the very end. And I'm sure even when she was too tired, she kept fighting for herself and those around her that she loved and loved her. Her note at the very end is the best advice anybody could give. I know you shuffled off this Earth way too early, but it seems you filled your short life with so many adventures and so much love you had enough to last a lifetime. Rest in peace Cristina, and thank you for sharing your story with the rest of us

Christina's message "wake up" is so inspirational. The devotion in her relationship was powerful. She brought her friends close and they shared there love. Please , when you love someone tell them what you going through. Let them know you love them and let them tell you they love you. We are all going to go one day but wouldn't it be amazing if we lived in the moment and touched people's hearts in some profound way everyday. That was what her mission was.

Hey Cristina, my name is Vale and I wanna tell you that I watched your documentary.
Last year I had depression, and I wanted to go to heaven so bad... I lived in the future and the past but never in the present and after that I’ve got sick.
You teached me the only thing I have is right now. Thank you for that, bless you for ever.

I just watched the documentary about Cristina. Her message and truths resonated to me so vividly! I know that putting this together for viewing purposes for us, the audience, was about her as a human being, her beautiful inner spirit and the raw, unedited emotional journey all associated with her entailed. You achieved your intentions of honoring her, remembering her and celebrating the fact she was here and made a difference by doing so. How ironic it is that she was in the film business around big stars and entertainment icons. Without realizing it, her presence and enthusiasm and love for her family and friends make her more iconic and admired then the individuals she helped showcase. Thank you for continuing her legacy about living for today and being head over heals in love with the now...

I just finished watching your short film on Cristina. I don’t have to tell you how moving the film was for me and I’m sure many others. My God what a beautiful person, kind, caring, and lovely spirit. That smile could light up the world. I loved her and didn’t even know her! RIP Cristina. May the Lord keep you and bless you forever. P.S. I had to leave “friend” as an acquaintance otherwise I was not allowed to post this message.

Cristina,
I will never forget our conversation after you attended your 20th High School Reunion in May 2009. You told me what a great, great time you had with Kim and Vicki (best pals since you were 12 years old). You wouldn't have missed it for anything. And you didn't. The next day they cruised you around Coquitlam Centre mall cause you wanted to go shopping. You were quite the gal, beautiful, funny and a voice I will never forget. We will remember when we spill red wine on the white carpet that you said the best stain removal was milk! That was a classic! We love you Cristina! Keep everyone in order up there and look after your dad!
