June 21, 1928 – March 16, 2015
It is with much sorrow that the family announces the passing of Curt Ryder-Cook in Calgary. Curt leaves to mourn Elaine, his beloved wife; his cherished children, Allan (Marie-Helene) and Adrianne. He was a loving grandfather of Daniel, Antonia and Mariela. Born in Weston, Ontario, the only child of Ernest Ryder Cook and Maud Murgatroyd, Curt was educated at Upper Canada College, Kitsilano Secondary School, Vancouver, and University of British Columbia where he received his bachelor's degree in Political Science and Economics. From 1951 - 1976 Curt worked for AIG in Bermuda, San Francisco, New York, Hong Kong and the Philippines where he was the Vice President in charge of Management Information Systems. Returning to Canada, he worked for the Calgary School Board of Education and the Calgary General Hospital. Curt later became a tax advisor specializing in US- Canadian taxes before retiring in 2012. He loved hiking in the mountains, tennis, photography, history and languages. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at LEYDEN'S CHAPEL OF REMEMBRANCE (corner of 17th Avenue and 2nd Street SW) at 11:00 a.m. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting leydens.com.
