Curtis Anderson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 14, 2025.
Curtis D. Anderson, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025, in Norwood, NC. He was 82.

Born on September 9, 1942, Curt lived a life marked by adventure, dedication, and a deep love for the water. A proud Vietnam veteran, he served his country with honor and returned home to build a long and respected career at Packard Electric before retiring.

Curt found his true calling as a charter fishing captain, spending over four decades navigating the waters of Lake Erie and the Florida Keys. Known far and wide as Captain Curt, he brought passion and expertise to every trip-whether chasing walleye or casting into turquoise seas. His fearless spirit and sharp wit made him a legend in the fishing community. He especially cherished time spent at his home on Little Torch Key, where he found peace and joy in island life.

Beyond the water, Curt enjoyed restoring classic cars and golfing with friends. In his younger years, he had a thrill for speed, racing motocross for Yamaha - a passion that reflected his adventurous spirit and love for a challenge.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Gloria Joseph Anderson; sons Curtis (Shannon) Anderson of Concord, North Carolina, and Art (Gilda) Anderson of Dublin, Ohio; and four grandchildren-Nellie, Ruby, Lucas, and Leo Anderson-who adored their papa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ethel Fetchko Anderson.

A celebration of life will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on May 9 at Elks Lodge 208, 3115 Lake Road W, Ashtabula, OH 44004. Friends and relatives are welcome to join in sharing stories and honoring a life well-lived.

Tight lines always, Captain Curt-you will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Curt, you and Lynx were my brothers. We were different but so similar. Growing up hunting grouse in the winter woods with you and Art was so special as was fishing the farm ponds in our back yard. Your house on Patchen Ave was a second home.

We shared the experience of Vietnam even though we never talked about it.
Seeing you and Glo in Madison was a moment in time I will never forget.

I miss you and Lynx - very special people for sure who can never be replaced....

Curtis what a great man. I am blessed to have known him. And what a pleasure to fish with him and the advice that he'd given me in my life as a charter boat captain. You will be truly missed! THERE HE IS AGAIN...
