Daniel W. Basham

Daniel W. Basham passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at an Arlington hospital. Memorial service: 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Arlington. Visitation afterwards in the church's welcome center. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the preschool children's program at First Baptist Church, Arlington. Daniel was born March 19, 1925, in Purmela to Jennie G. and James C. Basham. He graduated from Gatesville High School and enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1943. Returning from Europe in December 1945, he met Mary Margaret Witte and they married Sept. 2, 1949, at Calvary Baptist Church, Waco. They moved to Fort Worth where Daniel graduated from TCU. The Bashams moved to Arlington in 1953 where they have lived since. An active member of First Baptist Church, Daniel volunteered in the preschool program for almost 30 years. During his working career, he was employed as an engineering writer at all three of the aircraft plants in the area. Survivors: Wife of 64 years, Mary Margaret; son, Nathan Basham and wife, Terri; daughter, Charis Hunt; grandsons, Clayton Turner and wife, Heather, Spencer Basham, and Tyler Davault and wife, Jessica; and great-granddaughters, Kinsey, Haylee and Madison Turner.
