Danny Eugene Reid, 74, of McKinney, Texas passed away January 7, 2020 at Baylor Hospital in McKinney, TX. Danny was born April 19, 1945 in Madill, Oklahoma to Eugene and Verna (Moon) Reid. Danny married the love of his life, Linda Faye Atkinson, on June 16, 1970. During their thirty-seven years of marriage, they built a wonderful life and raised two children together. Linda preceded him in death in December 2007. In his early years, Danny served in the Army National Guard before attending Murray State College in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. His entire professional career was spent in the underground utility business. Danny was a leader who took great pride in mentoring others, and was highly respected and well known in the industry. He retired from Ferguson Waterworks in July 2016. Danny always had a love for cars. In his later years, he enjoyed showing off his 2 classic cars, a '55 and a '56 Chevy Bel Air, by entering and attending car shows, many of which he was able to brag about winning. As an avid sports fan, Danny spent countless hours cheering on his favorite teams—Oklahoma Sooners, Texas Rangers, and Dallas Cowboys. More recently, he was an even bigger fan of cheering on his own grandsons. He loved to watch them play baseball and rarely missed a game. Danny is survived by his son Daryl Reid and wife Tonia Reid, and their daughter Jasmeen of Norman, Oklahoma; his daughter Dacia Denison and husband Michael Denison, and their sons, Cody and Will of McKinney, Texas. He will be greatly missed by Daisy Duke, his faithful Shih Tzu companion. A Celebration of Danny's Life will be held on Saturday, January 18th from 11am-4pm at 6506 Lark Circle, McKinney, TX 75071. Come and go as you please. Everyone is welcome to attend. Mr. Reid was a faithful fixture in our community of Vista Ranch. He and Daisy Duke would frequently scout the hood and survey the land. I felt safer here with the pair of them making their rounds in his beautiful banana yellow cart, then later in a spiffy brighter model, which matched his colorful personality and beaming smile! I will miss our casual chats on his drive-by's and the security somehow that I felt knowing "Mr. Reid was always on watch!" Now, we take comfort in knowing he is still "on watch," but from ON HIGH, where the heavenly hosts will join him in looking after us now... Praying this celebration of life is one of reflection and filled with joyful memories of Mr. Reid's time on earth! Praying for comfort and peace that passes all understanding, as you grieve...
