David Brooks was a gread educator, as a teacher, principal, and board member. He never forgot why we were there. He always had the children in mind when making decisions. He was great to work with in my years at Portales. May god bless you all in your loss.

Mr. Brooks had an impact on so many lives and I hate to see a person like this leave our world. I always looked forward to our conversations as you always knew where you stood with him. He was a strong individual and was so very proud of his kids and loved his grandchildren. This is the type of person who you would want to have by your side in almost any situation. I am honored to have known him.

Christi,Steve,Davey,Greg and James. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.Coach Brooks was the first coach I had in Portales. What he inspired in us as adolescents has made us better adults. I looked forward to visiting with Mr. Brooks every year at the RSMGT. He continued to inspire and give me good advice. I enjoyed our conversations every year.

David was a loving father, dedicated educator and a true friend. He touched so many, many lives and was a positive role model for his own children as well as hundreds of students. David supported and encouraged his teachers in every way. His sense of humor made the workplace and extraordinarily fun place to work. David will be greatly missed by all who knew and cared for him. My love and warmest sympathy go out to all his family members. Barbara Shafer Stapleton, Redmond, Oregon

David meant so much to me and my family. He pulled us together while we were falling apart, instilled discipline, humility, responsibility, and fairness. He steadfastly and lovingly cared for my mother for many years. He loved Portales and its citizenry, and many of them loved him back. I was one of those many and I would have done anything for him because he had already done so much for me.

Having met Mr. Brooks only once, we can't claim we knew him well. However, knowing his daughter Christi as we do, is a testimony to what an astounding human being he must have been. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. Rick, Shanda, John, Sharon & Shawn; The Whiffeltree Family
