David Pennington Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 27, 2025.
David Roy Pennington, 59, passed away on June 21, 2025, after a courageous battle with Early Onset Alzheimer's. David was a kind and gentle man, known throughout his life for his generosity, humility, and unwavering love for his family.

A 1984 graduate of Gilbert High School, David's sweet personality and character garnered him many friends, some he remained in contact with well into adulthood. After graduation, David found great success in the construction industry, specializing in both commercial and residential concrete installation. He began in entry-level positions at well-known companies, and through ambition, integrity, and honesty, rose to hold high-level leadership roles. Eventually, he founded and operated his own successful company - Pennington Concrete - earning the respect and admiration of all who worked for and with him.

David had a deep love for music - especially Led Zeppelin, Rush and Motley Crue - and enjoyed playing his guitar in his free time, and playing a game or two on his pool table with family and friends. But above all else, his greatest joy and purpose in life came from raising his two sons, Joshua and Jordan, whom he lovingly brought up on his own from their early ages. Raising two sons as a working single father was not easy, but he never complained and always bragged on his sons - his love for them was deep and unconditional.

David was a constant source of support for most of his family, always present in times of hardship, offering money, a place to live, or a job. He helped countless loved ones through difficult times, never asking for anything in return. His generosity and modesty were unmatched.

A devoted man of God, David lived his faith with humility and grace, inspiring others with his quiet strength and unwavering principles. His life served as a model of integrity, compassion, faith and devotion - for family, friends and even strangers. In his quiet times, he would read his bible and discuss biblical passages and verses with his wife.

Later in life, David was blessed to reconnect with and marry his high school sweetheart, Aprile, the love of his life. David formed a special bond with his wife's children and grandchildren that will forever be remembered. Together, they shared a beautiful chapter of renewed love and companionship until his diagnosis tragically altered their journey.

David touched more lives than can be counted - and he never knew how much of an inspiration he was to so many. His impact cannot be fully measured - only deeply felt by those fortunate enough to have known him.

He is survived by his beloved sons, Joshua Pennington and Jordan Pennington; his mother, Sandra Pennington; his brothers, Clinton Pennington (and sister-in-law Jill Pennington) and Adam Pennington; his sister Holly Joice; three nephews; five nieces; four bonus children; 7 bonus grandchildren; many friends; and the love of his life, Aprile Pennington.

David was preceded in death by his beloved father, David Alton Pennington; his paternal grandparents, Roy and Helen Pennington; and his maternal grandparents, Arnold and Mary Meece.
