David, there is people who the world remembers. You made difference, and you cared to leave a mark. I miss our talks. And your sense of humor.Remember how much we had laughed ? I hope, that where you are right now ,you make other souls debate and argue and make clouds stir around. One day we shall meet again and we take it from there.

David was my pianist in collage. He was at every lesson. He made himself available to me outside of lessons to rehearse for juries and recitals. But, beyond that, he was my friend. David listened to me. He listened to my singing. He listened to my ideas. My thoughts. And he was open to all of them. He saw the beauty in my thoughts even when I couldn't. I was a silly little girl with dreams and ambitions and David never doubted my abilities to make them come true. He saw my potential. I was so full of self doubt at that time in my life. But, he believed in me. I will never forget his warm smile. And I hope that he is in a place where he can receive the love and appreciation that I so deeply feel for him. Sending you peace and love, David.

I just found out that David has passed on. I am utterly shocked. David worked with me in a special education program in Hamden, CT in the early 80's. We shared many wonderful moments together. Although we havent seen each other for many years, I always felt close to him. He was amazingly talented. I once read an article by Carl Sagan in which he stated the 10 things that students really needed to learn in high school. I came in to school the next day and asked David to illustrate the 10 things, and over the course of a few weeks he did a beautiful series of drawings for the classroom. I hung them on the wall of my classroom, and I said that I would always have them wherever I taught. Over the course of 32 years of teaching, I moved my classroom many times - but I always had them up on the walls. David was a true warrior, with an independent and loving mind. I pray for his soul to be received with honor and dignity. sam goldenberg PS... I would be happy to send a copy of his drawings to any family member who is interested in them. Just email me [email protected].

Stunned, utterley, to learn of Dr Yeagley's death. To his family, students, collegues,
and his many friends, I am
sorry for your loss.
solace in the knowledge that when a flame burns so fiercely, brightly and unwaveringly as his, it is eternal. His generous gifts of music, his writings, the experiences he shared with his
followers, and his warrior spirit will remain in this world for the
future. I will continue to learn more about this man and cherish most especially, his tenacity, his razor sharpe witt and candid humor. Shocking, unpredictable, brutally honest, and his magical ability to tell
stories from the past in the
most present sense...he struck down years in their telling, their characters sitting in the room beside you.
I will continue to follow the lifework of David Yeagley. I look forward to it with gleeful
anticipation, for his life is symbolic of treasure so rare that its abundance never ends.
Thank you for sharing it with our world as we know it.

Laughter - Truth - Hugs - Wisdom - Faith - Love - Compositions both Musical and Literature - Portraits in pencil & Artwork - An Exceptional Human Being
A man who chose to give life, give every person that he met, his personal best. Believing that how he treated others & life, was his gift to God, that God gave him this life. LOVE most of all, was a gift he gave endlessly, always giving glory to God. I treated him like a big brother for 35 years. I'm glad the world got to know him, a warrior on the soccer field, Chopin in concert hall, the most deeply faith filled man I have ever known. Have any of us learned by his example? Without you . . .
To the Yeagley Family: That David is now hearing "Well done good and faithful servant", at peace , no more pain or suffering. And, hearing once more Mrs. Yeagley saying "Hello Darlin'", enveloped in love forever. With Love,

My heart is broken. I can't believe you are gone. Thank you always for being there for me. Your wisdom, warmth, laughter, and kindness will never end. You have given to so many. The father spirit has you now as you walk with our many ancestors of long ago. I will always think of you when I look to the sky and feel the earth beneath me. The clouds move freely with the breeze softly through trees dancing slowly. You are gone to another land. As I go through each storm and ride my horse like the wind I am free of spirit I will remember you. You will not be forgotten. Thank you David for letting us into your life and sharing with us. Your legacy will forever stay like the hawk who glides across the sky and never leaves our sight. I will miss you. Rest in Peace now go free in spirit my brother my best friend.

I am shocked and saddened to learn that my friend, David Yeagley, passed away. He was such a dear man, a brilliant thinker and intellectual, and a devoted American patriot in addition to being a proud American Indian. And as we Jews say, he was a true mensch--a really decent, kind person. I very much enjoyed interacting with him and reading his work. I also enjoyed our discussions of the book I sent him, Katzimo Mysterious Mesa, based on the true life story of the Indian tribe that converted to Judaism. I am so sad to learn of his passing, which leaves the world much emptier. I will miss him a great deal. To David's Family, you were blessed to have such a fine person as your relative. May G-d comfort you and May G-d Bless Him. Rest In Peace, David.

Oh, David, I so miss reading your writings, your thoughts, my whole family misses them. It's heartbreaking. But we can take comfort in the fact that we met you in person that wonderful summer of 2008, and how you changed our world with your unique Indian perspective on everything. You were and are a Warrior. Go with God my friend.

I had a friend.A loud,outspoken,stubborn,brilliant
man.His name was David Yeagley. The most unusual
characteristic about my friend was that he happend
to be a Native American Indian who's great-great
Grandfather was the Comanche tribal leader
called Bad Eagle.During his entire life
David remained conservative sole voice
among American Indian intellectuals.
He made a point of discussing native Indian
issues on both Television and the Radio,
he made sure to write article for the
conservative FrontPageMagazine,always
loud, always arguing and always stiring up
controversy.
Super talented David Yeagley has been called “an American Indian Leonardo da Vinci“. He was an author, scholar, classical composer, concert musician, portrait artist and political commentator.
Music was his first, never betrayed love.David gave his first major piano performance at age 13 with the Oklahoma Symphony Orchestra. His musical compositions include a grand opera, a full-length film score and other orchestral works. Leading classical musicians have performed his works, as well as famous symphonies, including the Kiev Philharmonic, the Moravian Philharmonic and the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
He had behind his belt two Masters degrees and a doctorate.
He has taught humanities and literature at Oklahoma's College of Liberal Studies , Oklahoma State University, and the University of Central Oklahoma
-the list of his accomplishments is long and I may have not listed all of them.
David and I were friends for over 20 years,we did not see each other often enough but our communication remained close due to his frequest phone conversations. He loved to call me (my time )late at night and start up a conversation about his recent muscial composition, political views or simply some silly subject that had us both laughing for hours on.David never married but was in love almost constantly, his love interests included woman who never knew of his fascinations or his poems created based on recent coup de foudre. It was some time later in life that David came out clean as to why he had not married. He never wanted to burden someone else with his many health related problems,he did not think this would have been fair to any woman.
Last time we spoke back in February this year he had mentioned that his cancer has progressed and there is no chance of survival. He said he is going to miss playing football with the local group of young Mexicans...I wasn't ready to discuss his final days.Avoided any mention of his possible demise. We joked and I heard David's laughter.I still had hope that his next phone call would be about his recovery and some new projects of his.
David Yeagley died on this March 11th at the early morning hours.I never got a chance to say goodbye, perhaps for the best, since he hated goodbyes.I know he will remain huge inspiration in my own life and that is what he would have wanted, that our friendship would go on despite the phone remaining silent.

Oh, David, the brother of my heart! How I will miss you. You have taught me so much with your insight, humanity, spirituality, humility, and truth. What a multitude of talents God gave to you, and you wasted not a moment of any of it. Your warrior spirit is riding on the High Plains now, and as you look down, remember, just for a moment, that you were never, ever alone. I will look for you on the day Jesus gathers us Home, my dear. What a homecoming that will be, and the circle will remain unbroken.

In Dr. Yeagley's own words:
"When you fight and lose […] it's not manly to forever resent the fact that you lost."
How unfortunate that the he should die when I've only recently discovered his wise and inspiring work. Dead in body but not in spirit.

I live in England and sometimes the internet can be a great place, for it led me to David. Over the past four years, I have followed his posts and lectures online and had a couple of occasions where he has spent the time to converse with me. I will miss him greatly. My thoughts and sympathy go out to his family and friends. I have written a poem in tribute to David (see below) and would like his family to have it. From Harrison Travis, Liverpool, England
I hear the sound of a horse
Riding through the wind,
The horse of a warrior,
Who is now singing his victory song.
Destined for battle, he said
And battle he did,
Where he now rides
His enemy can not touch him,
For he is free
From the burdens of this world.
Do not look back, noble warrior!
Ride on and find the game!
There are no ghost dances where you are,
Only the triumphant cries of the Lords of the Plains.
Ride with them
Knowing that you have left behind a great legacy,
Bang the drums
Knowing that you have won,
And stand proud
Knowing that you have touched the hearts of those who are yet to join you.
In the memories of those you have left
Your eternal words of wisdom live on,
But your spirit must go on
For the happy hunting grounds await you.
We hear you ride
We hear your arrows fly
We hear you sing your songs
And we hear you shout 'A-he' as you beat your enemy.
Rest in peace, Comanche warrior!

I had the priviledge of having David in my music theroy class at Northwest Classen. This young man at the age of 14 had perfect pitch and could play any piano composition that was placed before him. God truly gave him a wonderful gift and David shared this gift freely. My wife and I were blessed through the association with his parents, two brothers and sister. We thank the Lord for allowing us the blessing of knowing David Yeagley. Good night sweet prince we know you are resting in the arms of your Lord and Savior. David Yeagley was truly a most remarkable and extraordinary man -- a man of many accomplishments: music, literature, journalism, knowledge of the Scriptures, and more. His unwavering faith, his words of wisdom and hope, his courage, and his unfailing willingness to stand and to fight for what he believed in are all a great inspiration in an age of fear and doubt. He had many friends, and I was blessed to have him call me "friend" as well. He will be sorely missed. My condolences to his family at this difficult time.

My Comanche brother, I will remember always your poetic moment, those boney trees and the many years you inspired me with your words. From a distance I admired your warrior strength despite the physical attack cancer took on your body. You are correct in that "there is a healing power in beauty, to one sensitive." You are that beauty, a beautiful soul who I shall remember all my days. Thank you for being my friend, someone I could look up to, who cut through the insanity of this world. I pray that your great, great Grandfather, Bad Eagle and Jesus are with you now, rejoicing in your homecoming and heaven is throwing the happiest Pow Wow in your honor. Dance, my friend. Dance. Until we meet again. I love you. Your friend, Brenda

To David's family,
We are saddened to hear David lost his long battle with cancer. Have known him since he moved to New Haven to attend Yale and have a mutual friend who knew him at Oberlin. He was always passionate in his beliefs whether they be about music, religion, literature or politics. He is resting waiting for that great resurrection morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
