Dawn, I just saw you earned your wings! You have seen the face of God and you are whole. I know the ones you had to leave behind, are still grieving and still hurting. But what a blessing for all of them to have been loved by you. You inspired and you gave hope to so many. I Know how much you adored your family... and those who called you friend. Dawn was and is an ongoing inspiration in my nursing career. I had the honor of taking care of Dawn in the last few months of her life. In 15 years as a nurse Ive never had a more welcoming patient or family. I watched as my care was surpassed by that of her husband Steve and her children and family.
Not once did she not have a smile on her face to greet me...even on days when I know she didnt feel like smiling. I remember Cher cozying up to my feet as I cared for Dawn...and the way Dawn pronounced Cher will hopefully never leave my memory. At the end of my life, I hope I have the kind of compassion that Dawn showed for others. Ill never forget her concern for how I was going to handle her death. Im still stunned by the empathy shown by her. As I said...inspiring. Few times in ones life do they get the chance to participate in something beautiful. I consider my chance to care for Dawn my beautiful experience in nursing. Dawn was and is loved by me and my wife and we will do our best to carry on her legacy.
Im proud to say I got a chance to be a part of her journey.

In the short time I knew Dawn you could see the love she had for her family. We hit it off so well it felt as though we had been friends for years. Dawn was fighting so hard, I had seen her the day before she left her earthly body and we talk for a bit. It always is too soon but now Dawn is no longer in pain and I know no words will comfort those left behind. Rest In Peace You are and will be missed.
