Deborah Lusignan Obituary

Published by The Berkshire Eagle on Dec. 14, 2022.
Deborah Rose Lusignan, 51, of Windsor, MA, died Friday, December 9, 2022.

Debbie was born in Pittsfield, MA, on July 16, 1971, a daughter of Edmond and Elisabeth Lusignan and sister to Kerry Lusignan. She graduated from Taconic High School in 1989. She went on to acquire her associates from Berkshire Community college and later her bachelor's in nursing through UMASS.

While Debbie's last place of formal employment was at Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge, MA. She devoted most of her life to creative endeavors. She was known in the community for her love of estate sales, antiques, and collectibles. She specialized in vintage clothing, toys, and Christmas. Towards the end of her life, Debbie went on to get her license in massage therapy. Her goal was to open her own apothecary where she could combine her passion for herbology and the healing of massage therapy.

At her core, Debbie's passion was helping people, which could be seen in her political work and through her donations and charity within her communities. But the absolute joy in her life came from her love of her two children, Shawn Kirchner - 35, and Nadia Lusignan - 27, who she loved with all of her being. Debbie also had a passion for gardening. You could find her in her yard, creating beauty wherever she went. Other passions included photography, good food, warm sandy beaches, anything Christmas and her activism.

Debbie's passionate, creative and generous spirit will be profoundly missed and cherished by her loved ones who have survived her. Including her parents, Edmond and Elisabeth Lusignan of Pittsfield, MA - Her fiance, David Birrell of Windsor, MA - Her children, Shawn Kirchner and Nadia Lusignan - Her stepdaughter, Marguerite Birrell - Her sister, Kerry Lusignan - Her niece, Ever Lusignan and her samoyed puppy Faye.

She was a strong lone voice for important observations that others were not bold enough to make, kind of like "the emperor is wearing no clothes", and although I only knew her from afar (as a listener to the Sane Progressive) I admired her strong voice for a progressive future.
