Debra (Debbie) Marie Dowling ,59, of Dade City, Florida passed away November 9th, 2022, with her loving husband at her side, after an extended illness at her home in Dade City.
Debbie was born on April 5th, 1963, in Dade City to parents Reba and Eugene Blommel. She is survived by her mother, Reba Blommel, and her brother, Stuart (Sarita) Blommel, as well as her husband Warren Dowling; son Kyle (Rebecca) Dowling and grandson Rowan Dowling. She is predeceased by her father, Eugene Blommel, and sister, Della (Dan) Haberle. She is also survived by much of her extended family.
She grew up in the St. Joseph community and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in St. Joe since she was a child. Debbie graduated from Pasco High School in 1981 and she worked part time during school at WDCF, the then A.M radio station in Dade City. In 1982, Debbie started her career at the Florida Department of Transportation, where she worked for 34 years. She retired in 2016 as an administrative assistant.
Debbie was married in the same church that she went to as a child, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, on October 5th, 1985, to Warren (Jimbo) Dowling.
While living in rural Dade City and surrounding areas her whole life - one of her great passions was traveling. She visited most of the United States as well as several countries with her family.
Debbie also loved cooking for her family. She made some of the best meals and desserts that you could imagine. She liked to make food for family meals, holidays, and special occasions. It truly made her happy to see everyone enjoying her food. She also enjoyed canning and liked giving her finished product away to friends and family to try.
Above all, Debbie’s main interest was her family. Her life revolved around her family. She went above and beyond for them. Included in her family were her pets; she loved her dogs and took amazing care of many throughout her life. Debbie also cared deeply for her family at FDOT, sharing good and bad times with many of them during her 34 years there.
Debbie will always be remembered by those who knew her as a great friend, amazing cook, and the most incredible wife and mother. She will always be missed and loved.

I was blessed to get to know Jim and Debbie as I cared for Debbie through Gulfside Hospice for at least the past 9 months or longer. Debbie was very blessed to have such a loving husband that did all that he could to love and take care of her. I enjoyed talks with Jim and braiding Debbie’s hair. My heart and sympathy goes out to the family in this time of grieving the loss of Debbie. Much love and prayers.
