Debra Lacher Obituary

Debra Ann Lacher (née Neumann)

SEPTEMBER 9, 1953 - APRIL 14, 2025

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Debra Ann Lacher (née Neumann), age 71, who left us on Monday, April 14th, 2025 following a brief but courageous battle against esophageal cancer.

Deb lived her life with unwavering faith and devotion to the Lord, and we find peace in knowing she has been welcomed into His kingdom. A woman of grace and quiet strength, Deb filled her days with simple joys-quilting, reading, playing pinochle, and working on puzzles. She loved volunteering with the kindergarten class at Cedar Creek Elementary School, where her gentle nature touched many young lives. She had an adventurous spirit and a love for travel, with her visit to the Holy Land standing out as a cherished highlight.

Family was the heart of Deb's world. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she relished every moment spent with them. Whether cheering the loudest from the stands at her grandkids' events or offering a gentle word of encouragement, Deb's love was always felt. Her calming presence and sweet smile will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Deb is preceded in death by her father, Reinhardt Neumann. She is survived by her mother, Dee Neumann, and her loving husband, Phil. She leaves behind her sons Chris, Nate (Jodi), Phil (Shannon), and Chris (Karen); and her beloved grandchildren Andrea, Lindsey, Cora, Julia, Kaya, Kenslee, Avery, Alexa, Elliot, and Emerson. She is also survived by her brothers Steve Neumann, Dan Neumann, Kevin (Karen) Neumann; and her sisters Sharon (Ted) Leister and Jenny Ellis.

A private memorial will be held to honor her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Wedum Residential Hospice in Deb's memory.

"Miss Deb" (as my students lovingly referred to her) volunteered in my kindergarten classroom every week. She helped work with children, prepped materials for me, and participated in our morning meeting with child-like enthusiasm! She thrived in this environment and was loved by all! One of my students told her to "stay put", as they left to go to PE class...because he didn´t want her to go before they got back. That became our running joke..."Stay put, Ms. Deb!" Well...I guess God had other plans. He needed her more. My class made a book for her, and I was heading out the door on my way to see her when I got the call that God brought her home...I guess she couldn´t "stay put". Deb was an amazing friend...supporting me in faith, family, and friendship. She was a blessing to me and I will miss her deeply.
