DELMAR C. NELSON, age 91 of Waterville, died at the Waterville Good Samaritan Center on Wednesday, November 7, 2007.Born in Clarks Grove, MN on July 10, 1916, Delmar was the son of Nels and Celinda (Paulson) Nelson. He attended District #23 Public School in Clarks Grove. On March 15, 1938, Delmar was married to Ruth Lawson at the First Baptist Church Parsonage in Clarks Grove. Delmar farmed from 1938 until moving to Albert Lea in 1953. He also worked for five years at John Deere Farm Machinery, and later for Evans Motor Sales from 1960 until 1977. Delmar and Ruth lived on Lake Tetonka in Waterville for seventeen years before moving to Waseca in 1996. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clarks Grove. He enjoyed cars, working, traveling to Texas every year, and spending time talking with his friends, family and neighbors.Delmar is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ruth of Waterville; one daughter, Irene Nelson and her husband Richard of Dallas, TX; one son, Vern Nelson and his wife Linda of Waterville; four grandchildren, Greg Nelson and his wife Lisa of Dallas, TX, Scott Nelson and his wife Peggy of Golden Valley, Trudi Connors and her husband Brad of Waseca, and Tina Jacobson and her husband Tom of Lonsdale; one brother, Morris Nelson of Olwein, IA; as well as six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Edith at age three, and Jeanette Louks; one brother, Merrill Nelson; and two sisters-in-law, Stella Nelson, and Vivian Nelson.Visitation will be held at the Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville on Friday, November 9, 2007, from 4-7 PM, and will continue for one hour before services at the church.Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Clarks Grove on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Roger Davies officiating. Interment will follow at the Clarks Grove Cemetery.
