Diana Markey Obituary
Diana Elizabeth Markey (Mavronicles), age 93, of Schererville, IN passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank J. Markey and parents: Nicholas and Elizabeth Mavronicles. She is survived by two children: Gregory Markey and Diane Morrow; three grandchildren: Caitlin, Rachel, and Christian. A gathering to honor Diana will take place at St. Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Drive, Dyer, IN on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 PM followed by Mass at 2:00 PM. Diana was born on July 23, 1923 in East Chicago, IN. She was a graduate of Washington High School Class of '42. Diana was active in Woodmar Women's Club of Hammond, Psi Iota Xi Sorority - Zeta Pi Chapter of Highland, served on the Board for Community Hospital, chapter member and president of Community Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church in Dyer. Diana enjoyed golfing, bowling, needlework, gardening and best of all being a grandmother. In lieu of flowers donation in Diana's memory can be sent to St. Joseph's Camelita Home in East Chicago, 4840 Grasselli St. East Chicago, IN 46312. www.burnkish.com
