Dominic J "Dom" DiLuca

Dominic "Dom" J. DiLuca, 92, passed away on December 24, 2023, at Beverly Hospital in Beverly, MA. He was surrounded by his loving family. Dom was born as Domenico DiLuca on July 20, 1931, in Borrello, Italy, to Vincenzo and Giovanna (DiNunzio) DiLuca. In 1934, Dominic and his parents immigrated to Boston.

After graduating from South Boston High School in 1949, Dom pursued a career as an illustrator. However, his aspirations were put on hold when he was called to military duty in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge in 1954.

Following his military service, Dom resumed his career as an illustrator, art supervisor, and publications manager for various companies, including the Mitre Corporation. He also attended seven years of art, advertising, and photography school.

In 1968, he founded AudioVision, Inc., an advertising agency in Boston, where he served as President until its sale in 1972. Dom then became the first Executive Producer of Media Services for Raytheon Service Company. For the next two decades, he traveled extensively across the U.S. and Canada, producing films and videos for esteemed clients such as the U.S. Congress, U.S. Navy, and PBS Television.

After retiring in 1992, he and his wife, Nancy, relocated to Arizona in 1998. Dom reignited his passion for painting during this time, with his work often showcasing the Southwest influence (and his secret dream to be a cowboy!) His paintings were exhibited at art festivals throughout New England and in galleries in Arizona and Carmel, California. He also gained recognition for his satirical political cartoons, which were published in the Saturday Evening Post and New Yorker Magazine. In 2012, Dom and Nancy returned to Danvers, MA.

Dom was known for his kind-hearted nature, quick wit, and fantastic sense of humor. Alongside his artistic talents, he was also a skilled craftsman, photographer, and cook. He was an avid reader of American History and mystery novels and a fervent fan of old Western movies and the Boston Bruins.

He was preceded in death by his younger sister: Leonilde "Donna" (DiLuca) Yehle, and his parents: Vincenzo and Giovanna (DiNunzio) DiLuca. Dom is survived by his wife, Nancy (Granese) DiLuca of Danvers, MA, and his daughter, Denise DiLuca of Wakefield, MA. He also leaves behind his brothers-in-law: Merle Dean Yehle and his wife Nancy, Robert Granese and his wife Leslie, and Paul Granese and his life partner Donna Gysin; sister-in-law: Susan (Granese) Mathison and her husband Peter; niece: Giannina Yehle and her life partner Robert Brown; nephew: Dino Yehle; and many other beloved nieces and nephews, cousins in Italy and dear friends; and his former wife, Esther (Iovino) DiLuca, mother of Denise.

A private celebration of life in Dom's memory will be held at a later date.
