Donald Brignac Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 15, 2025.
Donald James Brignac, 82, of Arlington, Texas went to join Our Lord on May 7, 2025.

Born November 20, 1942 to James Alexander and May Bird Brignac of Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. A very devout and faithful member of Saint Mary The Virgin Catholic Church of Arlington. As an Altar Server, Parish Council member, Knight Of Columbus, volunteer for Catholic Charities, and too many other things to name, Don was a well known and loved friend.

Don was a quiet man yet he was a diligent listener. He graduated from Saint Mary's University in San Antonio in 1966. He spent a career as an Industrial Engineer at LTV, General Dynamics, Siemens Allis, Vought Aerospace, (where he worked on the B-2 Bomber) and Northrop Grumman Aircraft.

Don was preceded in death by his parents James and May, his brother Joseph, his beloved daughter Brigitte, infant grandson Elijah James (Blaise & Francine); step daughter and Carol's cousin LaNell Smoak. Don is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Carol Marie Smoak Brignac: his sons Joseph Andrew and Melissa of Mansfield; Alexander James of Arlington; Jude Thomas and Jennifer of Bells; Blaise Stephen and Francine of Dallas: his step son and Carol's cousin, Daina Ryan Smoak of Amarillo: his grandchildren Cole Andrew and Caroline of Grapevine; Morgan Elizabeth of New York City; Rita Lynne, Eva May, and Alton James; Daniel Alexander and Michael Joseph; and his sisters: Ann and Wilbur Hoelscher of Cibola; Lynne Zick of Arlington; Teresa and Steven DeVillier of Lake Charles, LA; Mary and Tom Miller of Rio Medina. Also many nephews, nieces, and cousins all across the country. Don's life, love, and generosity touched so many people. He will be sorely missed and will never be forgotten for everyone who had the joy of having Don in their life.

Our Sincere gratitude to Thomas Sperry, MD. who made every effort to save Don for us, at least for a while. And to Rev. Fr. Christopher Stainbrook, KHS who has helped our family so much in the last 8 months.

The Rite of Christian Burial will be said for Don at 2:00 pm on May 19, 2025 at Saint Mary The Virgin Catholic Church, 1408 N. Davis Dr., Arlington, TX 76012. A Holy Rosary will be prayed to precede the Mass at 1:30 pm. A reception will follow in the parish hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Catholic Church of Saint Mary The Virgin. May his soul rest in peace. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on May 19, 2025, from 02:00 AM to 03:00 AM at Saint Mary The Virgin Catholic Church 1408 N. Davis Rd. With a reception to follow at the Parish Hall. A Rosary will be held on May 19, 2025, from 01:30 PM to 02:00 PM at Saint Mary The Virgin Catholic Church 1408 N. Davis Rd

We lost a kind and gentle soul, but our sadness should be out done by the joy that Don is home with the Lord: in our Father's house.
He was always so helpful and enjoyed stories that put a smile on your face. I have a hard time expressing just how special he is, but if you knew him - then you know. Condolences to Carol and all the family, friends and acquaintances. You are loved!
Hugs and Prayers,
Holly (Anderson) Morhart

Don was so many things that it's hard to narrow it down, but for me it was his ability to focus completely on the task at hand. He was able to grasp the question and respond with immediate clarity. I will miss that guidance.
