Donald L. Nehrkorn

ROCK FALLS – Donald L. Nehrkorn, age 79, died Monday, July 25, 2016 at CGH Medical Center, Sterling. Don was born on April 19, 1937 in Rock Falls the son of Vernon D. and Lottie E. (Bowers) Nehrkorn and was a 1955 graduate of Rock Falls High School where he lettered all four years in all sports. He married Judith Werland on July 14, 1957 in Sterling. Don was employed as a General Foreman with Northwestern Steel and Wire, Sterling for over 30 years before retiring. He was a member of Rock Falls United Methodist Church. Don was a long standing member of the Coloma Twp Park District Board and had served in the past on the Rock Falls High School Board. He had coached little league and JR Tackle for many years and he had been inducted in to the Rock falls High School hall of Fame. Survivors include his wife, Judith of Rock Falls; one daughter, Lori (Tom) Johnson of Clinton, Iowa; three sons, Ted (Regina) Nehrkorn of Peoria, Tim (Anne) Nehrkorn and Tom (Liz) Nehrkorn both of Rock Falls; one brother, Fred Nehrkorn of Rock Falls; his aunt Leota Rokinski; 9 grandchildren: Amanda (Wade) Morrow, Jacob (Chelsea) Spooner, Bryan Nehrkorn, Karina Nehrkorn, Emily Nehrkorn, Kara Nehrkorn, John Nehrkorn, Angela Nehrkorn, Austen Johnson; two step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; several great step grandchildren; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, four brothers and one grand daughter Megan Spooner. Visitation will be held on Monday August 1, 2016 from 9-11 AM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue in Rock Falls. The funeral will follow at 11 AM with the Reverend Scott Porter officiating. Burial will be at Coloma Twp Cemetery. Memorials in his memory to Coloma Twp Park District.
