Donald Peters Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 29, 2024.
Donald Howard Peters, 62, embarked on his final journey on January 20, 2024, from Gilbert, Arizona, cruising into the sunset far beyond the roads of his beloved Phoenix, where he first revved up life's engine on August 7, 1961. A maestro of hard work with a playlist of classic rock anthems, Donald lived life at full throttle, always ready to drop a gear and disappear on his motorcycle to the nearest fishing spot.

Family gatherings were his favorite pit stops, where he'd refuel on laughter and love, casting a line of joy into the lives of his granddaughters, who lovingly nicknamed him "Papa Don." Whether he was camping under the stars or navigating the waters, Donald's presence was a beacon of fun, steering clear of dull moments.

He leaves behind his co-pilot in life, Catherine Peters, and their beloved crew: Joseph, Donald Paul, Randy, Salena, Randy Gragg, and Christopher Navarro, along with his treasured granddaughters, Hope, Isabel, and Genesis. Donald's departure was preceded by his parents, Sarah Kay Crouse and Murle Winston Peters, who no doubt welcomed him with open arms at that great "Gig" in the sky.

The Peters family will drop anchor to celebrate Donald's legendary voyage at RoadRunner Park February 17th in the heart of Arizona. As for Donald, he's likely found the ultimate highway to heaven, revving among the clouds and casting celestial lures into the heavenly waters. Ride on, Donald, and never ride faster than your angels can fly.

"Breathe, breathe in the air
Don't be afraid to care
Leave, but don't leave me
Look around, choose your own ground
Long you live and high you'll fly, and smiles you'll give, tears you'll cry and all you touch and all you see is all your life will ever be." Pink Floyd

Although I may not be known to Dons immediate family or friends, I am his little step-sister (Tom´s daughter) I have been looking for him for years, so sorry I didn´t get to know him more when I grew up, i know he was always a rock when I was a pain as I went into those teenage years. I pray for peace for all of you as you grieve.

My dad loved fishing, when I was younger I remember going to the lake and spending all night in his boat. I'd fall asleep wake up at sunrise and he would have a whole chain of fish to take home.
It was cool and peaceful. Them 80s were just a different time. I love you dad

Don and I became instant friends at his last job at inland residential. I had the pleasure of interviewing Don and knew right away he was a good person. He knew everything there is to know about maintenance. Don always had a smile and was genuinely great to be around. Rest easy my friend

Wow Don! Never would have thought I would be here writing this. I remember when we realized our birthdays were one day apart. You never cared how tired or busy I was, you made sure we celebrated. I would meet up with you and your co pilot.
I am going to miss you. You have done so much for us over the years and was one of my biggest cheerleaders. You sometimes celebrated my successes more than I did. I can see you smiling, riding off into the sunset with those sunglasses. Thanks for the times you spent with us and the love you shared. I know you are laughing at me. I have Jack and coke on hand for you. You got your wings too soon. Love you forever and thank you.

You will always be missed and thought about daily Papa Don. Thank you for all the beautiful memories. Thank you for always having time for us. We will always remember you taking us to the park, the pool, Rush, buying us our favorite snacks all the time, buying us pizza, taking us to carnivals, theme parks and even Disneyland!! Thank you for the laughs , the daily conversations every time we called you even when you were busy at work you would answer our calls and just hear us talk and talk about random things but you would always be there to answer and listen. Literally almost every weekend you would be with us , with all 3 of your granddaughters just living it up and making more memories for the fullest memory jar of life. Thank you Papa so much for everything. Our list of memories with you can go on forever. For now we keep you alive in our thoughts and memories, we´re so glad God gave us a grandfather like you. May you rest in peace our Papa Don. Forever and Always.
