Doreen M. Richert, age 17, beloved daughter of Joslyn (Pablo), nee Mouser-Reyes, and David (Laura) Richert; loving sister of Dana, Timothy, Daniel and Jennifer Richert; dearest granddaughter of Yvonne, nee Milos, and the late Lyman Mouser, John and the late Grace Richert, Pablo Sr. and Virginia Reyes and Vivian and the late Robert Mattoon; dear niece, great-niece, cousin and friend of many, especially Allison, Sloan, Krystal, Scott and Joe. Funeral Services begin Saturday, 7 p.m. at Casey-Laskowski & Sons Funeral Home, 4540-50 W. Diversey Ave. Interment private. We just celebrated Dorys 18th birthday and it was one of the hardest days. Just a year ago on that day we were celebrating with her and having nothing but fun times. The most beautiful and loving girl has been taken from us without warning. I think of you every day no matter what I am doing. I miss you so much Doe. Keep a watch on us.

Doreen,
I knew you when we were little. My favorite memory of you was when we all had a sleep over and stayed up all night watching Romeo and Juliette. I miss you everyday and regret that we grew apart. I wish that I had kept in touch with you, but I feel so grateful that I even had the chance to know such an amazing person. My prayers go out to her family.

Every thing right down to brushing my teeth in the morning or listen listening to "Pop, Lock, and Drop it!" have changed so much now that i can't share them with you. The first thing I see every morning when I walk into Von is for the picture collage out on display for everyone to see. I don't stop thinking about you for the rest of the day. It really hasn't gotten any easier and I suspect it never will. I miss you terribly. But i know that the early morning rays that gently warm the the air we all breath is you touching our hearts once more from heaven. I know that you are the prettiest angel that ever was. I will never stop loving you. Rest in Peace.

I met Doreen through my niece Allison. Although I didn't know her well, I could see that she was a warm and caring person. When my daughter died in March, Doreen attended her wake to give Allison and her family comfort and support. I'm glad that Allison and Doreen had the opportunity to become best friends. Doreen was a beautiful person- both inside and out. In her short life she managed to touch so many lives. You will be greatly missed, Doreen.

Dory,i will miss a lot. I remember when Allison first introduced you to me. I always thought you were a very pretty girl. You probably thought that I was Allison's crazy black best friend and you probably wondered Oh My God until you got to know me. Tha's how I felt about you until I got to know you. I will always remember you as the sweet Dory that I know in my heart. I remember when I first had my daughter and I brought her to school. The way you an Allison looked was so amazing as if you had never seen a mixed baby. You were so happy and bubbily. That is something that will truly be missed. Although I don't attend Von anymore I know it's going to be hard to see Ally without you right by her side. on her facebook, she refers to you as her wife.... I think she really means that. There is so much I would like to say to you, but I can’t. No words can even come close to the feelings I have right now. You were a little sister to me.
I will miss the freckle on your nose, your incredible smile that lit up the world, your radiant eyes, your all knowingness, your amazing sense of humor, and your genuine soul that took everyone over.
It baffled me how one person could have such a hold on others, but with you, it was right, you’re that person, the person who changed all of our lives with your incredible personality. You had the personality that one only dreams about, outgoing, smart, funny, nice, and eager to meet new people, always there for your friends in any way possible.
You were the kind of person who made everything easy. You did everything you could to make everyone around you feel comfortable.

R.I.P Doreen, even though we really didnt know each other, but we saw each other in the hallways and i could tell you were a sweet girl. But it is a shock to every senior at von to hear such sad news that some body passed away so young and so close to graduating. But your in a better place now, and all the seniors at von will make this year dedicated to you!!! I also offer my sympathy towards the family. I met Dory when I came to Chicago on Holiday. It's hard to beleive that someone so fresh in my memory is not here anymore. She was a warm, genuine and positive person and her family should be proud of what an amazing human being she had become. I've been asking myself all week how such bad things can happen to such good people when the world is full hatefull people. I guess no one really has that answer. I have a lot of memories with doreen, mainly because her sister dana and i used to be really close friends, and though times have changed and we've drifted apart, that doesn't change my love for dana, doreen, and her family. I have the most sincere sorrow for doreen's whole family. losing someone so young and wonderful is absolutly heartbreaking. To dana and her loving family who was always very kind to me: I am so sorry. I will never forget how everytime i went to the Richert's home, how wonderful everyone was to me, especially doreen, i can hear her voice in my head saying, "KIIIMMMM!!!" with such excitement to see me after it had been a while since i had seen them all. No one deserves this, especially such an awesome family who are really good people.

I remember her smile, her cute freckles, her brown hair, seeing her run around with Dana and wondering how on earth could such a little girl have sooo much energy? I remember seeing Doreen at my mom's house just a few weeks ago. This time around, she had highlights in her hair, makeup on her face, and was a beautiful young lady...already thinking about college. I took a picture of Doreen sitting on my mom's couch. There it was...that adorable smile I remember...as if it were yesterday. Doreen may be gone, but my memories of her will live on in my mind until we all meet in Heaven.

Even though i wouldn't be what you could consider a close friend to Doreen, i was her gym leader my senior year, when she was a sophmore. I heard of the accident, and could not believe what had happened. She was always cheerful, she always had time to have a conversation with me, even if for a minute and i never saw a day where she didn't smile in the hallways of our school. Doreen, you will be missed, i'm saddened by the tragic, and abrupt ending to your life. Allison please recover soon. We may have lost a young girl, but we've all gained a watchful eye.
