Dorothy Ellen Brandt Broadwell passed away on February 7, 2025, at her home at Edgewood on Dominion in Bismarck, North Dakota, surrounded by family and friends.

Born on June 29, 1940, in her family home on a farm in Nortonville, North Dakota, Dorothy was the eldest child of Spencer and Mattie (Foy) Brandt. She grew up alongside her siblings Richard Edgar Brandt, Hellen Eileen Brandt, Spencer Albert Brandt, and Thomas Allen Brandt. She spent much of her life in the Sanborn area and was once honored as the "Queen of Sanborn," proudly riding the float in the town's Fourth of July celebration.

On December 4, 1958, Dorothy married Gordon Broadwell, and together they built a life on a farm near Kathryn, North Dakota. They shared 50 years of marriage and raised six children: Wendy, Craig, Cory, Lynette, Clay, and Cole. Dorothy took great joy in her growing family and found immense happiness in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is lovingly remembered by Wendy (Chuck) Ranum; their children Chris (Alyssa) Ranum with great-grandchildren Olivia, Jasmine, and Charlie; Alicia Ranum; and Cody (Alicia) Ranum. Craig Broadwell and grandson Hunter Olstad. Monte (Lynette) Schaff with grandchildren Kylie, Amy, and Everett. Clay Broadwell with grandchildren Samantha and Dylan. Cole (Cindy) Broadwell; their son Zach (Cassandra) Broadwell with great-grandchildren Jeremiah and Zane; and grandsons Joe, Anthony, and Jayden. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gordon; son Cory (1968); and brothers Richard and Spencer.

Her warmth and kindness touched many lives, leaving behind cherished memories for all who knew her.

Services Parkway Funeral Home 2-13-25 Visitation at 11 and service at 1pm.
