Dylan Ryan Ricciardella, 17, passed away on December 24, 2022. He was born in Hong Kong to Domenic and Danell Ricciardella on July 1, 2005. He was currently enrolled as a Junior at John H. Guyer High School in Denton, Texas.
Dylan, also affectionately called “Dill” and “D-Man” by his family and friends, was a brilliant, handsome, and witty young man. He was a technology, car, and train enthusiast and had aspirations of one day designing luxury automobiles. His happy place was his grandparents’ farm in Nebraska, where you could find him in the town of Big Springs watching trains, driving farm equipment, tinkering around on projects, sledding, and most importantly spending time with his family. Dylan loved his family, especially the special bond that he shared with his sister Kayla. While they moved around and traveled the world with their parents, they had each other to rely on. He also enjoyed family gatherings with his extended family, who kissed and loved on him at every opportunity. Dylan cherished his free time and delighted in sketching, gaming with friends, perfecting his photography, building Legos, and spending time with his dog Ozzy.
He was known for his uncanny wit, which he used to famously deliver one liners that made everyone smile, but it was his smile that lit up a room. Dylan was special in so many ways and he will always be remembered for his kind, generous, and loving spirit. Dylan memorialized life’s moments with his friends, family, and everything that he touched.
Dylan is survived by his parents, Domenic and Danell Ricciardella of Lantana, Texas and his sister Kayla Lynn Ricciardella (at home). He also leaves behind his maternal grandparents, Lon and Sherri Stretesky of Big Springs, Nebraska and his paternal grandmother, Constance Ricciardella of Ashburn, Virginia. In addition, he is survived by several loving great grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, including Janice Seibert of Oshkosh, NE, Don Stretesky of Julesburg, CO, Patrice and Mark Hundley (Gabbi) of Pittsburgh, PA, Tony and Tammy Ricciardella (Tony and Samantha) of Rockville, MD, Mary Beth and Corey Perdue (Mia and Carter) of Chantilly, VA, Danielle and Jeff Sant (Lucy, Johnny and Ellie) of Great Falls, VA and Gregory Ricciardella of Charlotte, NC. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Anthony J. Ricciardella, Sr., his great grandfathers Jack Seibert and Bub Fuller, and great grandmother Virginia Stretesky and Virginia Fuller.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am (CST) on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Saint Mark’s Catholic Church at 6500 Crawford Rd., Argyle, TX 76226. For those unable to attend, a Live Stream of the service is available via St. Mark’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/st.markdenton and on St. Mark’s Website: https://www.stmarkdenton.org/ (10 minutes prior the service).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on Dylan’s behalf to either Big Springs Fire Department via https://tiinyurl.com/4svwpc3b or to The National Railway Historical Society at https://nrhs.app.neoncrm.com/forms/giving to support youth railroad camp and learning experiences.

Dear Danell, Kayla, and Domenic,
I want to say how sorry and sad I am to learn of Dylan´s passing and but can only imagine the ongoing pain of loss and the void it leaves to you and the world.
Yes, I remember my wife beaming as she told me of Danell´s baby shower there in Hong Kong. I recall the days you brought Dylan to the office as a newborn, sometimes he quietly slept, other days wide-eyed and curious about his new world. Then as a toddler, a little zany but developing his own outsized personality to later share with the world.
Our Condolences and hopeful wishes to your family. Best wishes for the Dylan Ricciardella Scholarship Fund to help keep his memory alive through others.
