Phoenix - Eddie Burruel, 58, proud Phoenix native, died on March 12, 2018. Eddie was born on June 10, 1959 to Mike and Alicia Abril Burruel. He married his devoted and loving wife, Cheryl in 1983. Eddie is survived by his wife Cheryl; and his greatest and most loving legacy, his children Nicholas (Jacqueline), Cassandra, and Alaina. Eddie attended Emerson and Loma Linda Elementary Schools and graduated from Camelback High School where he played football. He graduated with his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Arizona State University. Go Devils! A devoted father, he and Cheryl crisscrossed the state and country to watch their talented children play softball, volleyball and football in high school and college. He often said that his children were his "stars" and he was extraordinarily proud of their many achievements. Diligent, talented, and hard-working Eddie had a long and successful career in insurance and was working as a respected and highly valued Associate Claims Director at Nationwide Private Client at the time of his death. Preceded in death by his parents; brother Mike Burruel; and nephew Adam Johnson. Eddie is also survived by sisters Lydia Burruel Johnson (Ross), Lori Burruel-Homa (Don); niece Maria Johnson; nephews John Burruel (Nancy), Alexander Johnson and Christopher Homa; and sister-in-law Susan Burruel. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00pm, with Rosary at 6:30pm, on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Hansen Chapel, 8314 N. 7th St., Phoenix 85020. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Monday, March 19th at Saints Simon and Jude Cathedral, 6351 N. 27th Ave, Phoenix 85017. If a man is judged by the family he loves and nurtures and by the company he keeps, Eddie was a king among men. He leaves behind a grieving family and longtime friends that will always be proud to call this generous man husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.
