Edward Butler Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 12, 2025.
Edward Andrew Butler, aged 62, closed the toolbox for the last time on January 8th, 2025. He lived a life full of kindness, curiosity and love, leaving behind memories and laughter for all who knew him.

Born on December 14th in Evergreen, Illinois, Ed earned the nickname "Master Mechanic" early in life, thanks to a knack for taking toy cars apart just to figure out how to put them back together. This passion for problem-solving grew into a career as a software technician. Ed not only excelled at fixing anything anyone asked him for help with, but also had a talent for making everyone laugh along the way.

Ed is survived by his two daughters: Olivia (Courtney) Butler, and Hannah (Husam) Alkinani, who each inherited his passion for life with sharp wit and impeccable sense of humor, one stepdaughter Asia Brown, one stepson Demetrius Thompson, and three granddaughters, Dreanna, Nayeli, and Arya who brought endless joy to Ed's life.

Ed also leaves behind his mother Annette Butler, and five siblings: James Butler, John (Beth) Butler, Amy (Matt) Brady, Joe Butler, and David Butler, who all learned what it meant to have a big brother who led with compassion, a touch of sarcasm, and an unwavering commitment to family. Ed leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his father James Edward Butler who always encouraged Ed's curiosity, and his faithful dogs, Bandit and Brutus who surely greeted Ed with a wagging tail at the pearly gates.

Ed wasn't just a software technician; he was a legendary grill master, resourceful handyman and hopeless romantic. A dad and big brother who could fix anything-whether it was a broken toy, a leaky faucet, or a bad day-and always made sure there was a cold drink and some good music to go along with it. He knew how to share the wisdom that only a dad could give, making every lesson feel like a gift you'd carry with you forever.

As Ed would always say: "Do what you love, and you will never work a day in your life."

Rest easy, Ed. You're off to the next adventure.
