Edward McGinty Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 4, 2022.
Edward J. McGinty, our father, our patriarch our hero passed away peacefully on May 12th, 2022, at the age of 88 years old. Predeceased by the love of his life, his wife and his best friend of 59 years, Catherine McGinty (nee: Hogan). Father to Kathleen Hain (Ted Jefferies), Susan Arruda (Eric Arruda) and Edward McGinty II. Grandfather to: Dusty Domingos (Jeremy), Michael Hain (Taylor), Catherine Arruda, Sarah Hain (Andrew Smart), Edward McGinty III, Patrick Arruda (Chantal), Kristen McGinty, and Joseph Kajishima-McGinty (Karina). Great Grandfather to Jameson, Max, Maiya, Jude and Harry.
Born in Philadelphia in 1933, Ed was a true athlete during his younger years playing football throughout high school, at Iowa State while attending college, and also with his military police unit when he served in Korea. Ed continued to be involved with sports throughout his life, coaching football and baseball while raising his children. After 3 decades of working at the Budd Company, Ed and Kitty retired to a golf course in Florida and Ed spent the winter months playing golf every week throughout his long retirement. If he wasn't golfing, you could usually find him and Kitty on the lake fishing off their pontoon boat.
Our father was excited by life; he dreamed big, and he lived life fully and gratefully. Anyone who knows our father knows his love of God and family was his barometer in life. His strong loving guidance throughout our lives has made our family who we are today. His love knew no bounds. He will forever be in our hearts; he will be greatly missed by his family in Canada, Philadelphia, and Florida, and by the many great friends he met along his way.
Cremation has taken place. A private service will be held to celebrate Ed's long and happy life.

A wonderful man with a passion for life and the people that came into his life. We were all so fortunate to have participated in so many McGinty-Flynn celebrations on Forestwood. I´m sure Pat was waiting for Ed so that they could cross the threshold together. Slainté Big Ed!

I´ll never forget the weekend you needed one more player for Bocci Ball. I had never played the game and didn´t know how. Ed bragged to the entire family Thani was the tri-city champ ... gasp! My first ball almost took out the neighbours fence but that only inspired me to really pour it on. Ed and I were the weekend champs and it only after our big win that I fessed up and told them all I had never played before in my life. Ed had a way of pulling you in, building you up, and encouraging you to do your best ... even if it was based on a BIG story. Gosh I´ll miss him

I have so many wonderful memories of Ed and Kitty. We were neighbor n Florida where my husband and I wintered from New York, up until my husband passed away and I had to sell my home there and move back to New York in 2014. They both loved life and enjoyed their time in Florida, as we all did. May everyone in their family accept my deepest sympathy, and know I will forever miss their friendship!
