Edward Mitchell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 29, 2024.
Edward F. Mitchell, born on August 1, 1953, to Edna McCoo and Joe Mitchell, passed away peacefully at home in Medford on July 26, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family, whose presence provided comfort and solace during his final moments.

Edward was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who made a lasting impact on the lives of those he loved. Together with his wife of 48 years, Mary Morano Mitchell, they built a wonderful family and established a legacy of love and unity. Edward's commitment to his family was steadfast, and he took immense pride in being a father to his three children: Susan Mitchell Jones of Melrose, Christian and his wife Chryssa of Cranston, and Ryan and his wife Allison of Dallas.

Edward's greatest joy came from being a grandfather to his nine cherished grandchildren: Riley, Sadie, Mackenzie, Molly, Casey, Nina, Amelia, Henry, and Mason. Along with the special children that were close to his heart: Jamal, Kaylin, Aidan, Deryn, Collin, Abby, Kyle, and James. He was a constant presence in their lives, offering wisdom, support, and unconditional love. These children will forever remember his warm hugs, gentle guidance, and the countless memories they shared.

Edward is survived by his sisters Debra Mitchell Walsh and her husband John, Joanne Mitchell D'Antuono and her husband Bob, and Suzanne Mitchell Gomez and her husband Eddie. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember their beloved uncle.

Throughout his life, Edward exemplified kindness, generosity, and integrity. His warm smile and compassionate nature endeared him to all who knew him. He had a passion for life and a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures it offered.

Edward's legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared. His memory will be cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of Edward's life will be held to honor his memory and the impact he had on those around him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts.

Rest in peace, Edward F. Mitchell. Your love and light will continue to shine through those you leave behind.

Relatives and friends are invited to Edward's funeral mass on Thursday August 1, 2024 in Saint Raphael's Church, 512 High Street, Medford at 11 am. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to MGH's Lurie Center for Autism or The Northeast Arc.

Ed was a client of mine when he worked for Wendy's International, and we crossed paths again when he worked for Legal Sea Foods. So sad to hear about his passing. He was a loyal client and we developed a friendship outside of our professional relationship. I always admired his work ethic and his kindness towards others. Ed was one of the good guys and he will be missed by many.
Rest in peace my friend.

Eddie was the very best! He adored his wife, children and grandchildren. He also took on other children as if they were his own.

Until we meet again, dear Eddie, love and hugs.

Dear Mary, Susan, Chris, Ryan and families,
Our most heartfelt condolences to all during this very difficult time. Ed was one of a kind: a most devoted husband, dad, and worker. We had the pleasure of working with him at Legal Sea Foods; each restaurant stands as a tribute to his vision and skills. But, business aside, Ed was a gentle man in so many ways. He adored you, Mary, and each child filled his heart with pride and love beyond measure. He always had a story to share and would relay it with pride, candor, and honesty. And he could pick up a conversation thread even if years had passed! We are deeply saddened by the news of his passing, but he lives on , through you, the grandchildren, and all who had the chance to experience his friendship—and smile!! Rest in peace, dear friend, and may memories of your life bring comfort to your family.

I always admired how Ed sat and watched wrestling with Susan and us (her friends). It seems like a silly thing, but it was great that he humored us and watched along side us. I think back and realize that he was trying to meet us young adults where we were at, and he made us feels like equals. I didn´t know him well, but he seemed like a great Dad, and I appreciate that Susan had him in her life.
