ELAINE F. YELLIN

Elaine F. Yellin, 75, died Wednesday morning, October 26, 2005, at the Cumberland Manor, where she had been a resident for the past year.

The widow of the late Arnold M. Yellin, Elaine was the daughter of the late Hyman and Clara (nee Goldman) Feinstein. She was born in Bridgeton and lived in the Bridgeton area for her entire life. She resided at her home on West Avenue from 1952 until she suffered a stroke in 2004.

Elaine graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1948 and then attended Temple University. She was employed by New Jersey Bell Telephone as a customer service representative from 1951 until retiring in 1993. After her retirement, Elaine was a member of the Retired Telephone Pioneers, a community service organization.

Mrs. Yellin was a life-long member of Congregation Beth Abraham in Bridgeton and she was a member of the Congregation’s Sisterhood. Elaine served as a dedicated volunteer with the auxiliary of the Bridgeton Hospital for over 25 years and more recently, with the Seabrook Educational and Cultural Center.

Elaine was known for her abilities in crafts, especially for her skills at knitting and crochet. She was also accomplished at painting, doll making and in the culinary arts. She enjoyed going to art and antique shows and craft fairs with her many friends. She also traveled widely with various tour groups in the United States and around the world.

Mrs. Yellin was a great animal lover and she was known to many as “the lady with the black dog,” as she walked her cocker spaniel, Onyx, around the neighborhood daily.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Arnold, who died in 1978; and by her brother and sister, Arthur and Ethel Feinstein. She is survived by her nephews and nieces David, Samuel, Michael and Anne Feinstein and Claire Frankel, and their families; and by her cousins Judith Logue, Jean Kirshenbaum, Ruth Mirsky, Gilbert Green, Irving Bitman, Alan Goldman and many other members of the Bitman, Goldman and Feinstein families. She is also survived by her in-law family, Jack and Margie Yellin and their children, who provided support and companionship for many years.

Graveside services will be held Sunday afternoon October 30 at 1 o’clock at the Beth Abraham Cemetery on Vineland Avenue in Rosenhayn. Rabbi James Greene will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the BROOKS WEST SIDE FUNERAL HOME, Bridgeton. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Congregation Beth Abraham, 330 Fayette St., Bridgeton, N.J. 08302, or the Cumberland County S.P.C.A., 1244 North Delsea Drive, Vineland, N.J. 08360.
