Eleanor Kennedy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 26, 2017.
KENNEDY, Eleanor (nee Galbraith)
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce our mothers passing on April 24, 2017 in her 94th year. Cherished wife of the late Jon (Mac) Kennedy for 53 years and predeceased by her sisters Ruth Brittain and Elsie Thomas of Saint John, New Brunswick. Dear mother of Ruth (Barry) McDowell, Jon Kennedy and Moira (Harley) Smith. She will be missed by her ten grandchildren, Bryan, Andrew, AJ, Nathan, Daniel, Timothy, Michelle, Alex, Trevor and Derek plus their families which include her 14 great grandchildren. Eleanor's quick wit and sense of humor will be remembered by her nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours.

Eleanor was born August 10, 1923 in Lorneville, NB to Leonard and Mabel Galbraith. Mac and Eleanor moved to London after marrying in 1950. It was a wonderful community to raise their three children.

When Mac passed away in 2003 and her health started to fail, she lived at Meadowcroft Retirement Home and for the past seven years at the Village of Glendale Crossing. We would like to thank all the fine staff for their special treatment to our mother and providing her with quality care and dignity at the end of her journey.

Visitation will be on Friday, April 28, 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm at Needham Funeral Service, 520 Dundas Street, London, Ontario. The funeral will be on Saturday at 10:30 am at the same location with visitation one hour prior to the service. Donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the charity of your choice. Friends and relatives are invited to sign Eleanor's online book of condolences at www.needhamfuneralhome.com

Ruth, John, and Moira. We were saddened to hear of your mom's passing following a period of failing health. We will remember her as a favorite aunt to visit, so hospitable and welcoming. Her wit and sense of humour were appreciated by all regardless of age. Although she will be missed, she will be forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time of grieving.

Ruth, Jon, Moira and families. I was saddened to hear of the passing of your mom. As you know, our parents, John and Chiyo Kumagai, loved your mom and dad very much and treasured them as lifelong friends from when we were neighbours on Bancroft Road almost sixty years ago. I will always remember your mother's wonderful smile and infectious laugh. Please accept the sincere condolences of my wife, Anna and our family, and me.

To the family of Eleanor Kennedy, So sorry to read of the death of your mother. I was also born and raised in Lorneville. I knew Ruth and her family well and also their sister, Elsie. One day I had a pleasant surprise several years ago when your mother visited our home in St. Marys, Ontario. She was a delightful person. You are in my thoughts, Eloise (McCavour) Hagerman
