Elgin Alway Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 18, 2023.
Elgin Aaron Alway born in Reno, NV on September 11th 1981 to Thomas Eugene and Sandra Lynn (Darby) Alway. Untimely passed away March 31st at 2:49pm at Renown Medical Center in Reno, NV.

He is survived by his loving Wife-Shamber, 1 year old daughter -Adaline, Mother-Darby (Bob), Brother Joshua (Kerry) Brother Levi (Teaa) Sister Pandora (Robert) Nieces and Nephews (Amber, Jadera, Dorian, Alana, Levi, Jordan, Cecilia, Cylis), & of course, his beloved dogs Riggs and Ivan.

Elgin grew up in Oscoda, MI chasing sunsets on the beaches of Lake Huron with his siblings who were his best friends. He graduated from Oscoda High School in 1999. He then relocated back to Reno, NV in the early 2000's, where he enjoyed cosplaying, going to Bible College, and doing comedy shows around the Northern Nevada area. He was voted 'Second Funniest Comedian' for Northern Nevada in 2012.Always looking to crack his next joke, his ultimate goal in life was to make everyone smile and laugh.

Known by friends as 'A real life Superman', Elgin loved to help people, and was always there for anyone who needed a hug. He found the joy in all of the simple things in life. He was always the first to say 'Thank You' for even the simplest of gestures- a thing many of us can learn by.

He loved spending time with his wife and daughter, he enjoyed doing home-projects, playing video games (especially Batman), he loved goofily singing and dancing, performing stand-up comedy, & playing fetch with his dogs.

His Christlike devotion was demonstrated through his profound love for his daughter and wife. He was a father for only a short period, but proved to be the very best father to Adaline.

Elgin was wonderful man dedicated to the Lord.

He was Loved by many and Laughed with many.

Public Services will be held at 12:00pm, on June 2nd at Grace Church

1220 Robb Drive Reno, NV 89523

Elgin was my brother in law.
I couldn´t have asked for a better husband for my sister, or a better father for my niece. I just wish he had been given more time on earth to be with his little family and to watch his daughter grow.
He was such a wonderful addition to our family- four years truly wasn´t enough.
He was such a fun, loving, kind, and grateful person. I´ve honestly never met anyone else like him.
He was so grateful and content with the small things in life. He always said thank you to everyone, and gave the best bear-hugs- even if you didn´t want them!
He called me "Sista Trista" and I had no idea I´d be so sad knowing I´ll never hear that again.
Elgin was such a light in everyone´s life and we are completely heartbroken with his passing. I often look at my niece and wonder why she has to grow up without her father, and I look to my sister and wonder why she has to raise a child without her beloved husband. The WHY is such a difficult thing when you know he so badly wanted to be here for them.
I thank God he was there for them through some of the darkest days.

Elgin, we love you and we miss you. Thank you for taking care of my sister.
Please be Shamber and Adaline´s guardian angel until they see you again one day.

I knew Elgin for many years. I saw Elgin's comedy at many open mic's in the beginning of his career. Recently, many years later l saw him at a local event. Elgin had become a pretty good comedian. I spoke with him and he was incredibly happy. I was happy for him. Learning today of Elgin's death, l am in complete shock. He was a great guy, and always had something positive to say. My heart goes out to Elgin's wife, daughter and other family members. I am truly sorry for your loss.

My son was always a sweet boy. He grew into an amazing man. I am so proud of the things he did as a husband and father. I miss you so much son. I find it hard to believe you have gone to the Lord before me. My love for you will never stop. I love you forever son.

Elgin was a kind and giving person. He gave us continuous laughs while helping out with our fundraiser events. The remaining Battle Born Dollz members send their deepest condolences to the Alway family and know that all his friends and family have one of the BEST guardian angels. Rest in Paradise Friend.

I first met Elgin in a Bible college class. Although social interactions are sometimes difficult for me, he was always friendly. Sometimes he seemed larger than life, over-the-top in his comedy, but I could always tell that he loved Jesus and he loved people. He was a great man, and I feel privileged to have met him.
