Elizabeth Wagner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 10, 2024.
Elizabeth "Liz" Wagner (née Rybak), 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 8, 2024, in Leesburg, FL. Born on July 16, 1947, in Depew, NY, Liz was a beacon of joy and kindness to all who knew her.

Liz retired from Wyoming Correctional Facility, where she dedicated many years of service. Her commitment to helping others extended beyond her career, as she was an avid volunteer and a master quilt maker, often creating beautiful quilts for family and friends. Liz's love for planning and traveling led her to organize countless memorable vacations and events, making every moment a celebration of togetherness.

She is survived by her loving husband, William; children, Richard (Jen), Eric (Krista), and Heidi (Eddie); eight grandchildren, Megan (Brady), Jason (Avery), Aaron (Talia) William, Eden, Leah, Gage, and Hunter and two great-grandchildren Brynlee and Remy; three wonderful sister-in-laws; and several cherished nieces and nephews. Liz's family was the center of her world, and she relished every moment spent with them.

Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Matthew and Irene Rybak, and siblings, Connie (Eddie), Don (Helen), and Frank (Andrea).

A service to honor Liz's life will be held on Saturday, August 17th at 11am at the Alexander Fire Rec Hall, 10708 Alexander Rd, Alexander, NY followed by a light lunch.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Liz's name to the Alexander Fire Dept, PO Box 336, Alexander, NY 14005, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, honoring Liz's lifelong commitment to helping others.

Liz was a wonderful friend! She was always so eager to talk to me about sewing and offer any help I may need! She was so caring, supportive and I cherished her friendship! I will miss our talks so much! Until we meet again Liz Mary DeWolf

I spoke with Betty (Liz) about a month ago. She called me to give condolences on the loss of our daughter. We talked for about 1 1/2 hours. The entire time, she spoke of Tammy Jarkiewicz, who went to school with her daughter, Heidi. She never one time mentioned she was ill until near the end of our conversation. It was when I asked her how she was doing that she mentioned her illness. I was blown away! She was upbeat and hopeful. Thankfully, she was not sick for a real long time. She is definitely with Jesus, and suffers no more. We are just passing through this world, and will meet again in such a wonderful place called Heaven. I was blessed to have known Betty. Lovely, lovely lady. She will be very missed.

Mrs Wagner was a mom to all of us. Always concerned and caring, offering advice, making sure we were behaving (when we were younger) not afraid to correct us when we needed it. She was the first to offer help and make sure everyone was comfortable. We will forever cherish her wisdom and the love she bestowed on all of us Alexander kids. Rest in peace Liz
