Ella C. Lang, age 88, of Mankato, died Monday, January 18, 2010 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 21 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. John Kunz officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday (TODAY) at Landkamer-Johnson-Boman Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3:45 p.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Ella was born on January 21, 1921 in Sanborn, MN to Joseph and Theresa (Schumacher) Schnobrich. She married Frank Lang Jr. on June 6, 1939 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Sanborn. Ella was the cook at St. John's Catholic School and at The Children's House at Mankato State University for 14 years.
Ella enjoyed cooking, baking and was always trying new recipes. While working at The Children's House, she put together two cookbooks of her favorite recipes. These cookbooks remain the favorite by ALL who have them. She enjoyed embroidering. Every family member has at least one set of dish towels to remember her by.
Ella is survived by four sons, Robert Lang of Elysian, Richard (Dick) Lang of Mankato, David (Shari) Lang of Mankato, and Ken (Patsy) Lang of North Mankato; two daughters: Judy (Jerry) Reich of Mankato and Rosemary (Bob) Thede of North Mankato; twelve grandchildren: Tina Dohrer (JD), Kurt Lang, Kelly (Philip) Marks, Jeremy (Renee) Reich, Betsy (Ross) Pettit, Megan (Paul) Peterson, Leah (Brian) Struck, Luke Lang, Sam (Erica) Lang, Ben Lang, Nicole Thede, and Michael Thede; eleven great-grandchildren: Katelynn Tischer, Sydney Peterson, Sydney Maday, Jackson Peterson, Gabriella Peterson, Ashley Marks, Jada Marks, Madalyn Struck, Carter Lang, Bryce Pettit, and Elizabeth Struck; one great-great-grandson, Carter Tischer; three brothers: Bernie (Lee) Schnobrich of St. Peter, Victor (Bonnie) Schnobrich of Rochester and Gary Schnobrich of Mankato; and two sisters: Virginia (Bill) Busch of Mankato and Janice (Rich) Berger of St. Peter; several nieces and nephews.
Ella is preceded in death by her husband Frank in 2004, her parents, three sisters, one brother, and one great grandson, Jacob Lang.
