VERNON GERMANTON - Mrs. Emma Elizabeth Corns Vernon, 79, died Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Walnut Cove Healthcare. She was born March 27, 1930 in Stokes County to Thomas Jefferson and Nannie Gladys Gunter Corns. She was a supervisor with the WFU Baptist Medical Center Phlebotomy Department, and was a charter member of Stafford Community Chapel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Junior Vernon in 2008, and four brothers, James Corns, Junior Corns, Tobe Corns and John Corns. She is survived by her son, Robert Gray Vernon, of Germanton. The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, August 28, 2009 at Burroughs Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends 7-9pm Thursday evening, August 27, at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the donor' s choice.
