VERDUN, Mrs. Esther Janet-age 99, of Flint, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020 at McLaren Select Specialty Hospital-Flint. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Christ The King Catholic Church, 1811 Seymour Ave., Flint, MI 48503. Father Phil Schmitter officiating. The final resting place for Mrs. Verdun will be New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint, MI.
On May 16, 2020, Mother Esther Janet Verdun got her wings and went to walk with the angels in heaven. She was 99 years old.
She received a Proclamation from the Mayor's Office of the City of Flint declaring "Esther Verdun Day" on September 11, 2010.
Mother Verdun was an avid sports fan who loved Detroit Tigers Baseball, Detroit Lions Football, Golden State Warriors Basketball and golf, specifically Tiger Woods. She traveled extensively especially enjoying trips to Europe, a cruise to the Caribbean Islands, and many trips to New Orleans, Louisiana for Mardi Gras. She was a soft-spoken person who was always willing to help others and share her wisdom continuously.
Mother Verdun married Arthur Verdun who was born in Verdunville, Louisiana. They were married for more than thirty-two years.
Her parents, Arthur Jones and Mary Elizabeth Quinn Sr. of Oberlin, Ohio; three brothers, Clifford Cordin Quinn, Arthur Jones Quinn Jr., and Warren B. Quinn; a special nephew, Al Simmons and a host of brothers and sisters-in-law preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter Darlene Alice Verdun; two grandchildren, Monica Renee' Robinson and Sean Arthur Verdun; three great-grandchildren, Capus Victor Robinson III, LaTrece Marnee Robinson and Victoria Tasha Robinson; one great-great grandson, MacKinley Victor; nephews, nieces, and cousins that loved her very much, including special cousins Fair Ann of Oberlin, Ohio, Chuck Metcalfe, and Debbie Tinsley special nephews, Ronnie and Darryl Jones and niece Crystal (Eddie) Sargent, special friends, Abigail Reaves and Mary Harriford.

Darlene, Monica and family. We are so sorry for your loss. Aunt Esther was so much a part of our immediate family. Every family event she had an open invitation and many times she was there. Thank you for sharing her with us.
