It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Francisco De Sampaio on April 4, 2014, at the age of 78 years.
Francis will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters: Paula (Rick) Goebel and Anna Whitehead; his grandchildren: Amanda Whitehead and Austin Goebel; and many other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Teresa of 53 years, and his brother, Frederico.
Francis, the eldest of six, was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, and immigrated to Canada in March 1963 with his young family to start a new life. He embraced his new country and became a proud Canadian. The hard working newcomer soon began his journey as a successful businessman and it wasn't long before he became a highly respected leader in his community. Francis worked full time until the age of 77. His clients referred to him as the "man with all the answers," he was truly one of a kind. Francis will be fondly remembered for his warmth, generosity and charisma. He leaves behind an everlasting legacy and will be missed by all those whom he helped along the way.
A Prayer Service will take place at 5:00 p.m., Monday, April 7, 2014 at St. Albert Parish, 7 St. Vital Avenue, St. Albert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at St. Albert Parish, with Interment to follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum, 14611 Mark Messier Trail, Edmonton, AB.
