At SPAWAR I knew Fred and respected him both professionally and personally. Fred was a very dedicated engineer. I am sorry I didn't know him better.

My condolences to the Block family. I didn't know Mr. Block as long as others as I came to NISE East in 1994. Fred, as a Department Head, was instrumental in guiding this newby in the real world of the standup of a new command. The trio of Fred, Giles and Gus offered the wisdom of their years of experience tinged with a sense of humor that is a rare gift in a military/civilian workplace.

In the Navy tradition, fair winds and following seas, Mr. Block!

As the Director of Community Engagement for Charleston Animal Society I speak on behalf of the staff and animals in our care. We are eternally grateful for your choice to honor Frederick with donations in his name to our shelter! It brought a smile to my face when I read about his hands full of ham! Please know that your generous thoughtful gift will leave a legacy of hope for animals in our community! We are so sorry for your loss and hope that knowing that your choice will help so many is a small comfort to you! For the animals I am Kay Hyman

It never ceases to amaze me just how lucky I was to have been hired by Fred Block. I had no reason to expect such a painstaking mentor, even less so true a friend. I will miss him greatly. It was a privilege to have known him.

My condolences to the family.

My heart is saddened today to hear of Fred's passing. He was one of the first people I met at SRC 18 years ago during my initial interviews. I was always happy to spend time with him when I travelled to Charleston for work. He was a wonderful man and will be truly missed. Prayers and thoughts go out to the family and friends. Rest in peace.

It is hard for me to express my feelings upon hearing of the passing of my very good friend and coworker Fred. As I reflect upon the memories I have of Fred, it is more of a teacher - student relationship. He had so much to offer, I learned a great deal from this man. My family sends their condolences.
