Frederick Ress, III Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 31, 2024.
Frederick H. Ress III "Rusty", 75, of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

Fred was born on September 26, 1949, to Fred and Lois Kelley Ress. After Fred graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1967, he went into the United States Navy and then to LSU where he met his wife of 52 years, Genie Haydel Ress.

Fred was a computer programmer and political consultant. He had multiple interests and could do anything he set his mind to. He built our home and his mother's store.

Fred was predeceased by his father, survived by his wife, mother, and children, Genevieve Pearson (Eric), children Clothilde and Royce, Natalie Hollis (Blake), and child Emily Lois.

In later years, Fred moved out to Ventress where he enjoyed gardening and was an excellent cook making a huge mess in the kitchen.

Thanks to his many friends who came to say goodbye to him and offered him many years of friendship.

Celebration of Life will be held at Café Americain in Baton Rouge on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 1 - 4 pm, 7521 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge.

Deep condolences to the entire Ress family for the loss of a brilliant and delightful human being who was a true gift to all who had the pleasure of knowing Fred "Rusty" Ress III. He was always cheerful, enthusiastic, and fully atop of everything that ever attracted his interest, which was extraordinary and plentiful. He loved his family, his friends and his country and was an unforgettable contributor to everything and everybody he loved. He is absolutely in a special place now- and will never be forgotten by so many of us.......

My thoughts and prayers go out to Rusty´s family. He kept the computers working at the law firm I worked for back in the 90´s. I also worked with him on two political ventures. He was highly intelligent, loved his work, and above all loved his family. He was always upbeat, positive, and optimistic. It has been 30 years since I last saw him. He was a great friend to all who knew him and will be missed. He had a wonderful family, life, and career!!! God Bless Rusty on a life well lived.

Rusty was an incredible human being! I have used phrases like "The most interesting man in the World!". I have said God broke the mold after he created Rusty. My many conversations over a 25 year stretch never disappointed and always caused me to learn and definitely to think! I will miss him greatly! He and his family will be in my continued thoughts and prayers!
