GARETH ADSHEAD 24 July 1989 Gareth Adshead the much Loved Son of Carol and Craig Adshead and Special Brother of Andrew Adshead died in a Car Crash on the M60 on 21ST December 2007. I know it may seem strange that we as a family didn’t put this tribute to our Son and Brother Gareth in the last issue of the paper but we felt we needed to get it right the way we thought of Gareth. Gareth was a special Lad who had nothing but the utmost respect for everything and everyone he came into contact with. This was no better highlighted than with the fantastic turn out for the celebration of Gareth’s short but completely full life. 800+ people plus at Rififis shows the respect that Gareth richly deserved Gareth lived it to the full and brought so much happiness to our lives, his families lives, his friends lives and his many team mates lives. Carol, Andrew and myself would like to thank the many, many people who have been there for us since Gareth passed on. Thank you to the Fire Brigade who had to attend the accident and did with dignity and to see them represented at Gareths funeral was something special so thank you boys for your respect and professionalism. Thank you to Lillian Hough who has held our hands all through this. Lillian took over and guided us through this hard time with such dignity. No one can prepare you for losing a loved one so young but this Special Lady prepared us for the day and days to come and for that Lillian we as a family (and that includes the whole family) Thank you so, so much. Thank you to James at Rififis in Stalybridge.James knew immediately that the only place big enough to fit enough of Gareths friends and family in would be Rififis. And he was right and it was the perfect end to a difficult day for us and for that we as a family we thank you James. Thank you to Eddy.Inglis who was Gareths RE teacher at Dukinfield Astley High School. We called Eddy to ask him if he would hold Gareths ceremony and although it is one of the hardest calls we have had ever had to make, Eddy made it so easy for us, Eddy assured us that he would be honoured and no matter when it was to be, he would move anything to accommodate our son. A true gentleman, who we will be remembered for his generosity for as long as we live.Thank you to the many, many friends, work colleagues and team mates that Gareth has. To Gareths friends who have helped Carol, Andrew and myself through a difficult time with the many stories that will be with me forever that make us so proud to have called Gareth our Son and Brother. To Gareths work colleagues who got a short glimpse of a wonderful lad. Thank you for attending Gareths Day and I am sure some of his personality will have rubbed off on you all. To Gareths team mates whether it was Roller Hockey at Crumpsall. Field Hockey at Tameside, Cricket at St Pauls Stalybridge or Football at Dukinfield Youth and the Forester. Please continue to play the game the way Gareth did. With a smile, with an enjoyment and a respect that he always brought to the game. Thank you to our special family who have been there for us all the way and continue to be strong and this shows the true meaning of the word Family. When we need them they are there, when we need a shoulder they are there and when we need to let off steam they are there. We have not named Family, Friends, Team Mates and Work Colleagues personally as we would not wish to miss anyone out. These people know who they are and I am sure they are as proud as we are to have been part of Gareths life and Times. We ask anyone that has been a part of Gareths life to please keep in touch and if it is only for a couple of seconds at a time please take time out to remember what Gareth meant to us all. Gareth lived life to the full and had the respect for everything he did. We are and always will be proud of our Brother and Son and. As a final tribute to a wonderful Brother and Son I can proudly and truthfully say you will be missed but you will always be in our hearts and minds forever and ever You are a TRUE LEGEND SON! Love you always Carol Craig and Andrew
