George William Bowman

George William Bowman, aged 62, passed away on June 25, 2024, in Staten Island, New York. Born on November 19, 1962, in Bowman, South Carolina, George was a lifelong embodiment of joy and vigor, loved dearly by his family and a wide circle of friends.

George spent his childhood and early education in his hometown, attending Bowman Elementary School and Bowman High. He moved to New York, where he built a longstanding career with Waste Management, dedicating many years of service to the community.

A sports enthusiast, George's passion for football and basketball was well-known among his peers. His love for the games was only paralleled by his devotion to his family and friends. George's vibrant personality and readiness to support others left an indelible mark on all who knew him, especially his classmates and wonderful friends.

He is survived by his mother, Edna M. Bowman; his significant other, Catherine Butler; his daughter, Jennifer Bowman; stepdaughters, Holly Davis and Catherine Shipman; seven grandchildren, his sister Helen Marie Johnson. His extended family includes aunts Helen Justine Brown, Barbara Bowman, Elaine Bowman Molinia; uncles Eddie Bowman, Ralph A. Molinia, and Steven R. Davis. George was preceded in death by his grandparents, Pinkie C. and Connie Mae Bowman; uncles Cicero Bowman, John C. Bowman, Andrew (Pop) Brown; and cousins Timothy Jaden Davis and Andrew (Bo) Brown.

The family will receive friends and relatives at McCall Bronxwood Funeral Home, 4035 Bronxwood Avenue, Bronx, New York 10466, on Saturday, July 6, 2024, between 2 and 5 pm. And at Glover Funeral Home, 2562 Charleston Highway, Orangeburg, South Carolina 29115, visitation on July 10, 2024, from 3 to 7 pm. Services will be graveside. Interment will be in the Bowman Family Cemetary off Reeseville Road, Bowman, S.C. on July 11th at 11:00 am. These establishments are assisting the family during this difficult time, ensuring George's memory is honored and cherished.
