Mr. George A. Leach Sr., 70, passed away, Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at VITAS at St. Mary's Hospital. Mr. Leach was born August 23, 1946 in Gates County, NC a son of the late Mathew and Ethel (Butts) Leach. "Mete" as he was known by all was educated in the NC public school system where he attended Belvidere High School. At the age of 17, George relocated to Waterbury where he resided until his passing. After receiving his GED, he entered the United States Army where he served during the Vietnam Era from 2/24/1966 to 1/23/1968 before receiving an honorable discharge. In his earlier years he worked as a manager at Two Guys, Bradlees, Grossman's Lumber and the VA Hospital until his retirement. George was a long time member of Long Hill Bible Church under the leadership of Rev. Rodney Wade. During his free time he enjoyed visiting the casinos, playing cards with his family and socializing with his friends. He loved old school music, was a very sharp dresser and he also was a giving person who would do anything for anyone who was in need. He leaves to cherish his memory, his two sons; George "Patches" Leach Jr. and Germaine Leach both of Waterbury, four grandchildren; Tiffon Leach, Synae'a Waters, Shontayza Monit Ferreira Leach, Josephine Ferreira Leach all of Waterbury, five sisters; Otelia Eason, Odessia Leach, Eular Leach all of Waterbury, Marion Fay Kee of Hobbsville, NC and Susie Boose of Long Island, NY, five brother's; Mathew Leach, William Leach both of Erie, PA, Lloyd(Martha) Eason, Jarvis (Helen) Eason, Marvin (Naomi) Eason all of Long Island, NY, sister in law; Sandra Eason of Long Island, NY, three brothers in law; Charlie Walton, Joe Bond and Richard Roberts, several nieces, nephews, cousins , extended family and friends. He was predeceased by four sisters; Mary Walton, Pearlie Jordan, Gracey Bond, Clarine Roberts, six brothers; James Leach, Milton Leach, Lorenza Leach, Pernell Leach, Milford Eason and James Eason.
