George Maguire Obituary
Born on November 22, 1935, in Wilmington, Delaware, George was a proud graduate of Wilmington High School. Above all else, he was a devoted family man who found his greatest joy in the love he shared with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. For 64 wonderful years, he and his beloved wife, M. Arlene Maguire, built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. After her passing, George deeply missed his "best girl," carrying her memory with him every day.
Affectionately known as Dad, Poppop, and Poppop George, he treasured time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He took immense pride in their accomplishments and delighted in sharing stories, wisdom, and unconditional love with them. His legacy lives on through them-in the lessons he imparted and the memories they will forever cherish.
A passionate sports fan, George's loyalty to the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles never wavered. He followed every season with enthusiasm, always ready to share a statistic or engage in a spirited debate about the latest game.
George is survived by his children: George Mark Maguire, Michele Schwander (Chris), Michael Maguire, James Maguire, and Marybeth Mazzio; his grandchildren: David Maguire, Timothy Maguire (Stephanie), Kevin Maguire, Alex Maguire, Emily Maguire, Chelsey Troyer (Matt), C. Michael Schwander, Olivia Mazzio, Hunter Mazzio, Molly Maguire, Jamie Maguire, and Matthew D. Maguire; as well as numerous great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, M. Arlene Maguire; his son, J. Matthew Maguire (Kathy); and his grandson, Michael Mazzio.
George's love and presence will be deeply missed. His memory will live on in the stories shared and the traditions carried forward by those who knew him.
