George McHenry Obituary
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late George S. McHenry, Sr. and Florence McHenry Relucio and step father Harold Relucio.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph-St. Therese Church and a Eucharistic minister. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School. Mr. McHenry worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., the Standard Times and also New Bedford Gas Co. which is now Eversource for 30 years. George was in the Drum Corps since he was 17 years old. Later he golfed with his friends and son, Corey. He was completely devoted to his children and grandchildren.
He was the loving father of Tricia Talbot and husband Scott, Patrick S. McHenry and wife Stephanie and Corey F. McHenry and wife Rachael. He was called Papa to his grandchildren that he loved with all his heart, Brett M. Talbot, Bryce I. Talbot, Mason P. McHenry, Adriana Jade McHenry, Preston M. McHenry, Jackson George McHenry and Devon Duarte. He is survived by eight sisters, Liz McHenry, Debbie Potkay, Donna McHenry, Sharon DeGagne and husband Donald, Sue Swift and husband Joseph, Francis Silva, Norma Kelly and husband Jim, Barbara Smith and husband Tom; a sister-in-law Kathy McHenry; an uncle Dave Costa and wife Ruth; a late uncle Raymond Costa and his wife Kathrine Costa; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an older brother James McHenry and grandparents, John and Mary Lena McHenry and Francis and Dimentina Costa.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 4-8pm in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. His Funeral will be Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 8:30am from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30am in St. Joseph-St. Therese Church, Acushnet Ave., New Bedford. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Flowers welcome or donations may be made to the Schwartz Center for Children, 1 Posa Place, Dartmouth, MA 02747.
