George Thomas Papageorge

George Thomas Papageorge, 70, formerly of Manchester, NH, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2020, after a long illness. Born on May 30, 1950, he was the son of the late Paschor Papageorge and Mary (Bienvenue) Caswell. George was a graduate of Manchester High School West, Class of 1968, served in the US Army Reserves for six years, and started his own business, Colonial Painting and Wallpapering, which he operated for over 35 years until his retirement in 2015. During those years he also shared his love of music, especially the "golden oldies", to provide the entertainment at local establishments, weddings, and other special occasions. George loved his family and friends, his dog Remy, hunting, fishing, water sports, civil war history, and exploring the White Mountain area where he was currently living, including stopping at every scenic area, antique store, and gift shop along the way. However, his life's passion was baseball and he was a life-long fan of the New York Yankees. George loved to play ball whether it was sandlot or organized and played in numerous local leagues from the time he was able to hit a ball well into his sixties. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Papageorge) Willette and her husband, Shawn; his grandson, David Fitzpatrick, all of Sandwich, MA; three sisters, Linda (Papageorge) Lord of Seminole, FL, Sandra (Papageorge) Kopec and her husband, Damian, of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Joan (Dumont) Lang and her husband, Uwe, of Lakeland, FL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, a celebration of George's life will be held in the Spring of 2021 with the family and friends he loved so dearly and who loved him.
