Gerald Lynn Frattini, known affectionately as Jerry, passed away on November 8, 2024, at the age of 79 in his hometown of Joliet, IL. Born on February 13, 1945, in Joliet, he spent his life deeply embedded in the fabric of his community.

Jerry graduated from Joliet Central High School in 1963 and furthered his education through various computer coding classes and certifications. He dedicated 35 years of his career to Caterpillar, where he was respected for his expertise and work ethic.

Jerry was a man of many interests, including photography, stamp collecting, and computer coding. He was an active member of the Model A Restorers Club, a passion he shared with his father and brother. His love for motorsport saw him racing vintage Mini Coopers at Blackhawk Farms Raceway and Elkhart Lake. Additionally, Jerry enjoyed building and flying RC airplanes, restoring his 1992 Ford Mustang, and cruising in his 2019 Shelby GT 350.

Known for his introverted yet irreverent and loving nature, Jerry held liberal and progressive views that shaped his interactions and beliefs. His life was enriched by his family, with whom he shared many cherished moments.

Jerry is survived by his daughters, Marissa Lynn Frattini and Mia Jeanine Frattini Costello; his stepson, Michael Bushnell; his brother, Lawrence Frattini; his grandchildren, Molly Clower, Finnegan Clower, Makenzie Clinton, Camille Bushnell, Danielle Bushnell, and Makayla Bushnell; and his niece, Gina Frattini. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Stella Lewickas Frattini, and his niece, Miranda Frattini.

A private family memorial will be held to honor Jerry's life and legacy. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him as a loving family man with a passion for life and a multitude of interests.

It was a sad day when I saw Jerry had passed. We go way back to school days at especially JT. Through the years we spent a lot of time in the fall chasing bunnies around the old Oak Grove area, building and flying model airplanes in the summer and finally building and racing my Ford street rod.
Then "Life Happened", our interests changed and we took different paths. We did get together for lunch once, at one of the many restaurants on Jefferson St in the mid 80's
Even though we both worked @ Cat our paths never crossed.
Some of my very best times were with Jerry.
My condolences to Jerry's family and brother Larry.
Rest in Peace Old friend.

Rest In peace Jerry. We go way back together, thru High School at Joliet Central, all the years at Cat, working on Cars, just talking in your garage in Rockdale. Love you Buddy! Your Old Friend, Terry Peeples
