She was born April 28, 1918 in Saxonburg to Christopher N. and Rachel Mae Elizabeth (Hochuly) Schad. Mrs. Freehling owned and operated the Paris Restaurant in Butler for 10 years. She was a freelance watercolorist since 1975. Her previous employment was with Du-Co Ceramics, Saxonburg, for 17 years. She was a former school director for South Butler County School District. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Saxonburg. Her other memberships were the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society; Associated Artists of Butler; Pittsburgh Artists Association; and Harrisburg Art Association. She also was active in the Saxonburg Arts Association. Survivors include her husband, Willis Lee Freehling, whom she married Oct. 20, 1963; two daughters, Mrs. Francis (Judy) Strezeski of Butler and Mrs. Dr. John (Dona) Guiver of Safron Walden, England; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Catherine Pesci of Freeport. She was preceded by her parents; her first husband; three brothers, William, John and Edward Schad; and two sons, Thomas L. and William Bryan Schiebel. FREEHLING ?Friends of Geraldine "Gerry" (Schad) Freehling, 84, of Cabot (Winfield Township), who died Dec. 15, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Fox Funeral Home, Inc., Saxonburg. Private funeral services will be held at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Saxonburg Library. Arrangements by Fox.
