Gerri M.

McGee, our mother, passed away peacefully September 10th, at the age of 90, to rejoin the love of her life, our father and husband William E. McGee Sr. surrounded by her family.

Geraldine Marie Nanson McGee was born in Clayton Idaho on August 3, 1926. She was born to Lucille Nanson and Walter J. Nanson. She grew-up in Idaho and Texas and moved to Los Angeles, California where she finished high school. It was in California she met and married William E. McGee Sr. They were married for 59 years before his passing in 2003.

She and our father believed in God, were active members and held leadership positions in many organizations dedicated to helping others which included Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the Eagles. She was the last surviving charter member of VFW Auxiliary 3396. In addition, they were founding members of First Emanuel Baptist Church in which they remained active members until its congregation joined with the Bridge Church in 2014. She, like many women in her generation met and fell in love with a serviceman, our father William E. McGee during World War II. She was a wonderful and benevolent homemaker and reigned supreme while allowing our father to earn a living as a railroad engineer.

She is preceded in death by her husband William E. McGee Sr., her father Walter J. Nanson, stepfather Larry Fournier, mother Lucille Fournier and brothers Lyle, George and Sammy Nanson. She is survived by her 3 children Sandra McGee Russell ( Randy Russell), William E. McGee Jr. ( Jessica Loomis, Mary McGee Lynch) Lawrence McGee ( Susan McGee), and grandchildren Richard Hadlock Jr. (Rene), Patti Backstrom (Andy), Adrine Russell , William E. McGee IV, Sherri Urban (West), Kathryn Hamel (Dale), Heather Balaam (Darin), Lance McGee, Brian McGee, Jerri Thomason (Bill) and Maria Hottell. She was also the proud matriarch of 33 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren. She is survived by her youngest brother Floyd Nanson and many nieces and nephews.

She will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley NV. A service will he held on Saturday, October 1st, 2016 at the Bridge Church at 11:00 a.m. at 1330 Foster Dr. in Reno, Nevada.
