On October 13, 1930, a beautiful soul was born in Smackover, Arkansas, of humble beginnings. Geraldine Hudnall Nunns would learn valuable lessons about life, love, and authenticity amidst the challenging years of the Great Depression. The woods surrounding her family home were alive with all of God's living miracles, and would become her childhood playground and creative inspiration.
On her ascension in life, she would break free of the environmental limitations she was born into and would become a renown artist, while balancing the significant responsibilities of a loving, supportive wife to Ed, and nurturing mother of seven children. Her offspring would be taught an ethical life based on principles, and they would each learn to access their own strength through her powerful example. "Deanie" had an invaluable relationship with her church community in which she lived the life of both student and teacher. She never stopped being curious or eager to learn on her journey of self discovery, and as she evolved both personally and spiritually, her light would grow exponentially and light the path for so many.
One of her most cherished roles was grandmother of nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren (not to mention many grand-dogs) which allowed her to continue to pour out her bountiful love and share her talents and wisdom to two additional generations. There was always something magical happening at grandma's house - be it arts and crafts, memorable meals, or games out in her flourishing back yard where she was an active, athletic challenger.
After a long and lucrative career as a painter, she laid down her paintbrush and replaced it with a pen. As she had once manipulated the paint on her palette, she began to do the same with words - creating beautiful poetry as a new expression of her limitless creativity.
She transitioned on June 15, 2021, in the comfort of her home as she had wished. She repeatedly expressed deep gratitude and love to her children, loving daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and nurse Erin Bell of Embrace Hospice, for their selfless and compassionate care throughout her last days.
Geraldine is preceded in death by husband Edward S. Nunns Sr., parents Finis Joe Hudnall and Delphia Ferguson Hudnall, brother Albert "Bill" Hudnall, sister Jonna Dell Sorrels, daughters Barbara J. Thompson and Alice J. Farrar, sons-in-law Albert R. Thompson and Samuel P. Barron, granddaughter Heather Van Wagner, and great granddaughter-in-law Taylor L. Szuhoza.
She is survived by daughters Janet S. Barron and Deborah L. Stein (Mark), sons Randall L. Nunns (Teresa), Edward S. Nunns Jr, and Aaron J. Nunns (Scarlet), nephew Albert "Burke" Hudnall Jr, grandchildren Donald Thompson (Geanean), Stephanie Seefeldt (Michael), Jeremy Ames (Kristy), Emily Simpson (Gary), Ross and Will Nunns, Kyra and Kaiden Nunns, and great grandchildren Tyler and Ashley Van Wagner, Brandon and Taylor M. Szuhoza, Madi and Ella Seefeldt, Isabella and Gavin Ames, Austin and Tyler Devillier, and Logan Simpson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 7, 2021 at Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church, San Antonio, Texas, at 5:00 pm. A reception will follow.

My partner Julio and I had the pleasure of helping Deannie with her yard: mowing the grass, moving rocks around in her fantastic yard, trimming and any other work she needed. She was a beautiful woman with a beautiful heart. May she enjoy tending God´s garden. Peace and love to you, Deannie.
