Giancarlo Sotil, born on May 28, 1973, passed away unexpectedly on January 20, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.

Giancarlo was a devoted father to Gigi Daniella Sotil and Luciana Qorianka Sotil, the beloved son of Gladys Gaillour and Eduardo Sotil, and a loving brother to GladiBel Sotil and Luis Enrique Saito. He was the treasured husband of Kathia Colón and a proud stepfather to Benjamin Harp. A friend to many, Giancarlo's enormous heart and selfless nature touched everyone who was fortunate to know him.

Giancarlo's passions in life brought him immense joy. He was a lifelong soccer enthusiast, a devoted fan of Real Madrid and Universitario de Deportes ("la 'U"). He enjoyed hiking in what he fondly referred to as his "new hood," traveling, surfing, dancing with amazing rhythm, and creating culinary masterpieces as an amazing chef. Above all, Giancarlo cherished spending quality time with his family and friends, making every moment together unforgettable.

He lived life with boundless enthusiasm, embracing each day to the fullest. Though his departure came far too soon, Giancarlo leaves behind a lasting impact on those who knew him. His infectious smile, warmth, and generous spirit will continue to live on in our hearts.

Giancarlo

Gracias

I met GC playing soccer in Lamorinda. He played with heart and a smile. I enjoyed playing against him in O40 league and appreciated how warmly he would greet me after each game.

I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to Katia, Mona, Qoris and the rest of the family for the loss of Gian Carlo. He was (still is) a very important part of our family. Since I first met him I noticed how sincere, genuine, cheerful and warmhearted he was. For my wife Gian Carlo was truly his brother and a reminiscence of my departed father in law, for my children Giancarlo was their dear "Uncle Gianca", for me he was a friend and an inspiration. His departure is definitely a great loss, but his memories will remain in our hearts forever like a gentle breeze. We celebrate his life and we feel very fortunate for having shared many moments together. May God give the family the strength and comfort they need. We also are here for anything that is needed.

When we were dining with the whole family after a great steak that was made for him, and was absolutely delicious, I remember a friend of Kathia's saying something about a time she was with Ben a long time ago, remarking on that difficult time and how strong she is. She was a little sensitive about that memory. But then Giancarlo said something so lovely-probably not those exact words, but the significance I will never forget: "Now you will never be alone, baby" With the charisma so characteristic of him. That was a phrase that I think shows how amazing he was. If he had had the option, he would have been by her side his whole life.

Giancarlo brought his incredible light into the yoga studio in more ways than one. He always had his 5000 kilowatt smile, wore his towel robe, and was patient, kind, charming, and quick to smile and laugh. He will be deeply missed. Thank you for sharing your incredible spirit with us at the studio. We loved having you - Will always keep you in our hearts
Sending our love to your entire family.

GC brought cheer and joy to everyone around him. I feel fortunate to have known him for over a decade and will cherish the time we spent talking about kids, soccer, ceviche, single malts and politics. He was genuine, caring and a family man above all. You'll be dearly missed, my friend. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

I´ll always remember the quiet times we spent together. Especially when I was a little kid and I´d tackle him in bed, and even though he was tired from work he´d always be willing to play. I´ll remember too his little inventions he would create in the kitchen, he made a dessert he called the "Banana Supreme", and I´ll always cherish that.
