TAZEWELL, Va. — Gilmer Lee Bevill, 68, of Tazewell, Va., formerly of Jolo, W.Va., joined his family Sunday, February 28, 2010 from Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tenn.
Gilmer was born July 21, 1941 at Avondale, W.Va., a son of the late George Levi Bevill and Lucille Bevill Mullins. He was a retired coal miner from Jewell Smokeless Coal and enjoyed a variety of interests.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, William Taylor Payne; one son, George Levi Bevill, II; a sister, Truly Brewster; and one brother, Chuck Bevill.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Katherine Bevill of Mountain City, Tenn.; two sons, Ronald Bevill of Palmerton, Pa., and Jerry Cooper of Alabama; six grandchildren, Billy Asbury of Mountain City, Tenn., Rebecca Asbury of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Deanna Dean of Mountain City, Tenn., Layla Coleman of Alabama, Nathan Cooper of Alabama, and Joshua Bevill of South Carolina; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Wanda Brewster of Abingdon, Va., Florence Eustace of Flourtown, Pa., Shirley Mullins and Darlene Collins, both of Jolo; and one brother, Joe Mullins of Paynesville.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 1 o'clock with Pastor Charlie Rose and Pastor Johnny Cooper officiating at the Family Worship Center at Jolo, W.Va. Burial will follow in the Perry Vance Cemetery at Rockridge. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may visit with the family Wednesday evening, March 3, 2010 at the Family Worship Center at Jolo, from 6 to 11 p.m.
Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger is assisting the Bevill family.
